중학교와 고등학교의 교과교실제 운영 효과 비교 연구

국문 초록

교과교실제는 교과의 특성과 목적 및 그 내용과 방법에 맞게 수업을 하기 위해 시설과 설비를 재구축하는 중요한 교육개혁안으로 전국의 중등학교에서 확대 중에 있다. 본 연구에서는 교과교실제 운영의 효과가 얼마나 큰가에 따라 교과교실 확충의 시급성과 중요성을 확정할 수 있다고 보고 중등학교에서 교과교실제 실시 여부에 따른 수업 효과나 만족도의 차이를 교과별(국어, 영어, 수학, 사회, 과학), 학교급별(중학교, 고등학교)로 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구 결과, 중학교의 경우 교과교실과 일반교실 사용시 유의미한 차이를 보이는 변인과 교과에 있어서 제한적인 효과를 보이는 경향이 있지만, 고등학교에서는 교과교실과 일반교실에서 학습하는 학생들이 모든 변인과 5개 교과 대부분에서 유의미한 차이를 보이고 있어 교과교실의 효과가 분명히 드러났다. 또한 전반적으로 중학교에 비해 고등학교에서 교과교실 사용 집단과 일반교실 사용 집단 간 차이가 더 크게 나타남을 알 수 있었다. 이에 교과교실은 중학교보다 효과가 큰 고등학교에서 본격적으로 이루어져야 할 것을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

The subject-tailed classroom system is currently promoted for secondary schools in nationwide as one of the most important educational reform plans and it is for preparing classrooms and facilities suitable for subjects to be taught in such classrooms and facilities. The purpose of this study is to reveal differences between teaching effects and satisfactions of a subject-tailored classroom and a general classroom for 5 subjects and school levels. The study shows that there is almost insignificant difference between the subject-tailored classroom and the general classroom in case of middle schools. However, there are significant differences for almost all 5 subjects and all survey questionaries between the subject-tailored classroom and the general classroom in case of high schools. Also, such difference is more significant in the high school than the middle school. Thus, it should be reasonable to assume that the subject-tailored classroom system should be promoted and employed for the high school rather than the middle school.
