기업의 재무적 안정성이 고용과 고용안정성에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

최근 글로벌 금융위기 등을 거치면서, 기업이 재무환경 변화에 따라 고용정책에 있어 재무적 요소를 기본적으로 의사결정에 반영하고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 최근의 추세를 반영하여, 기업의 고용과 고용안정성에 있어서, 기업의 부채비율 등 재무비율이나, 소유구조 등 재무적 안정성을 중심으로 고용창출과 고용안정성에 미치는 영향을 패널분석을 통하여 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 한국노동연구원의 2005, 2007, 2009년도 사업체패널조사(WPS: Workplace Panel Survey) 데이터를 사용하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. (1) 우리나라에서는 기업이 부채 레버리지 수준이나 부실 가능성 보다는 직접적인 노사간 고용안정 계약이 고용증대나 고용안정성에 유의한 영향을 미친다. (2) 기업규모가 큰 기업, 존속기간이 긴 기업, 수익성이 높은 기업이 고용증대나 고용안정성에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다. (3) 최대주주의 지배력이 강한 기업일수록 고용안정성에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다. 반면, 개인회사 등 사기업적 특성이 고용안정성에 부정적인 영향을 미친다. (4) 여성인력채용은 고용 창출에 도움이 되지만 고용안정성에 부정적인 영향을 미친다. 본 연구 결과는 기존 연구와 달리 기업의 고유한 재무적 안정성이나, 경영의사 구조, 직원구성 등이 고용창출이나 고용안정성을 제고시키거나 악화시키는 요인을 찾아 낸 점이 기존 연구와 차별이 된다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구 결과, 기업의 장기적인 성장가능성이나 안정성이 고용안정성 증진에 가장 중요한 요소이며, 부실 등 재무적 안정성이 취약한 기업이나 직원을 자주 해고하는 기업에 대하여는 노사간 고용안정계약 등 보다 직접적인 수단을 이용하여 고용창출과 고용안정성을 확보하는 방안이 유력하다고 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

In this study, we investigate the effects of firm specific factors like governance, ownership structure and financial performances and status of the firms in Korea, the most dominant major channel of employment and the primary sources of job instability and insecurity for the employees on job creation and job stability. This approach compared to other previous studies in this field incorporates many different disciplines regarding employment like economics, management(HRM), accounting, finance, etc. From these study we try to find out factors affecting quality markets in Korea, using the three bi-annual panel survey database (Year 2005, Year 2007, Year 2009) of Korea Labor Institute. From the panel regression, we find that in Korea financial leverage and default risks of firms do not show any statistically significant effects on job creation and job stability in the corporate side, that firm sizes, firm ages and profitability measured by ROA of firms show statistically significant and positive effects on job stability of employees, that higher shareholdings of the primary owner also affects positively on job stability of employees, and that the fact that firms are privately owned by corporations or individuals shows statistically significant and negative effects on job stability of employees. However, female employment affects statistically significant and positive effects on job creation, but negatively on job stability. The test results might suggest that firms make employment decision and HRM plans incorporating their constraints in resources, financial and/or non-financial, and thus, the government, or policymakers in the control tower for the national economy should study ways to improve the baseline factors of the firms for higher employment rate and enhanced job stability to achieve a sustainable and extensive welfare society for the public.
