레지오 에밀리아 접근법의 한국 적용과정에 나타난 홀리스틱교육적 의미탐색

국문 초록

이 연구는 유치원장들이 레지오 에밀리아 접근법을 한국에 적용하는 과정에서 보인 교육적 의미를 탐색해 보고자 하였다. 레지오 에밀리아 접근법은 발현적 교육과정에서 표상활동을 재반복함으로써 유아들이 알고 있는 것을 더욱 명료하게 하는 구성주의적 교육 체제의 하나로 홀리스틱교육의 균형(balance), 포괄(inclusion), 연관(connection)을 관점을 포함하고 있다. 레지오 에밀리아 접근법을 한국의 교육현장에 도입하고자 했던 원장들은 새롭게 소개되기 시작한 레지오 접근법에 관심을 보였고 교육체제의 우수성에 대해 직감하였고 현장에 성공적으로 정착될 수 있도록 지속적으로 노 력하였다. 이 노력의 과정은 사회문화적 벽을 넘고, 교사를 교육하고, 원장 자신의 교육관이 변화하는 과정이었다. 레지오 접근법을 자신의 교육현장에 적용하려는 원장들은 열정과 지속성을 갖고 있었으며, 교육현실 속에 보이지 않게 존재하는 가능성을 포괄하고 관계(연관)짓는 과정 속에서 자신도 모르게 변화된 모습을 보이고 있었다. 그 변화된 모습은 Miller(1996)가 말하는 홀리스틱교육의 의미인 변용의 과정이었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research was to discover the educational impact that the Reggio Emilia Approach had when implemented by a kindergarten principal. The Reggio Emilia Approach is an emergent and constructive curriculum that uses representative activities as well as repetitive lesson plans to define existing knowledge of the children. Therefore, the Reggio Emilia Approach focuses on the wholistic approach of education consisting of balance, inclusion, and connection. The kindergarten principals of Korea have been interested in the environment as well as a new perspective of children created by the Reggio Emilia Approach. These individuals have also been active in the kindergarten classroom to ensure the success of the Reggio approach that required the transcendence of social and cultural norms. This included the parental involvement causing the educational philosophy of the kindergarten principle itself to evolve. The kindergarten principles have implemented the Reggio Approach with passion and consistency. By realizing and embracing the potential unseen in the educational reality, the kindergarten principles were able to be transformed into a renewed educator. This renewed self is in fact the true meaning of wholistic education, identified by Miller (1996), A process of transformation.
