｢소백산대관록｣(小白山大觀錄)과 목록의 시학(詩學)

국문 초록

이 글에서는 ｢소백산대관록｣을 소백산 일대를 유람한 하루 동안의 경험을 큰 줄기로 삼은 가사로 보고, 그 여정의 도입부 및 근경(近景)을 다룬 전반부의 다섯 단락에 한해 작품론을 진행하였다. 그 다섯 단락은 소백산의 바위, 나무, 꽃, 나물, 새에 대한 상세하고 정성들인 목록으로서, 이 장소에 대한 작가의 애정이 투영된 결과이다. 본격적인 산행에 앞서 동아시아와 한반도 전체의 지도와 산맥의 계보 가운데에 소백산이라는 장소를 초점화하고, 소백산 산행을 시작하기까지를 다룬 도입부에서 감지되는 시적 화자의 형상은 소백산 인근의 거주자인 사대부 지식인 남성에 가깝다. 비슷하게 주경야독을 하는 처지에 모처럼 산행을 나서는 시인과 두세 벗들은 선비의 복장인 복건을 착용하고 있으며 여행을 시작하는 흥취를 표현할 때도 당시(唐詩) 구절을 즐겨 차용하고 있어 그런 복장이 자아내는 분위기에 부합한다. 그러나 본격적인 산행이 전개되는 상황을 반영한 다섯 단락, 즉 바위, 나무, 꽃, 나물, 새의 목록이 시사하는 시적 화자의 형상에서는 도입부에서와 같은 젠더적 특성을 찾아보기 어렵다. 그는 한자어를 사용하거나 한시를 인용하는 대신 다채로운 음성상징어와 고유어 표현을 통해 소백산의 바위와 나무, 꽃, 나물, 새들이 이루어내는 흥겨운 풍경을 놀랍도록 아름답게 그려냈으며, 풍경과 주고받은 마음이 스민 이 목록은 하나하나 독립된 시(詩)를 이루기에 부족함이 없다. 한편 다섯 단락 중 나물의 목록에 해당하는 것은 소백산에서 오랫동안 산나물을 채취하는 일을 한 사람의 경험과 지식이 핍진하고도 아름다운 고유어 표현을 만나 이루어진 시적(詩的)인 식물도감이라 할 만하며, 그 작가는 고유어 표현 역량과 산나물에 대한 경험적 지식을 갖춘 노년기 여성으로 볼 여지가 있다. 이 점은 ｢소백산대관록｣과 ｢덴동어미화전가｣의 작가에 대해 고증할 때 중요한 단서가 될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

I define “Sobaeksan Daegwanrok” as a Korean lyric that mainly focuses on the experience of a day of touring the Sobaeksan area. This paper is the result of a study of the work limited to the introduction and the first five paragraphs of close-up of the journey to Mt. Sobaek. Those five paragraphs are a detailed and meticulous list of the rocks, trees, flowers, wild vegetables, and birds of Mt. Sobaek, a reflection of the author's love for the place. In the introduction to the work, before embarking on a full-scale hike, the author focuses on Mt. Sobaek among the maps and mountain ranges of East Asia and the Korean Peninsula, and covers the process leading up to the hike. The figure of the poetic speaker perceived here is close to that of a male scholar-official living near Mt. Sobaek. The poet and his two or three friends, who work during the day and study at night, are out on a rare hike, wearing scholarly travel hats. They also frequently borrow phrases from Tang poetry to express their excitement at embarking on a journey, fitting the atmosphere their attire evokes. However, in the five paragraphs that reflect the situation in which a full-scale mountain hike unfolds, namely the list of rocks, trees, flowers, wild plants, and birds, it is difficult to find gender characteristics like those in the introduction. Instead of using Chinese characters or quoting Chinese poetry, he or she used a variety of unique Korean phonetic symbols to create a strikingly beautiful depiction of the vibrant landscape of the rocks, trees, flowers, wild vegetables, and birds of Mt. Sobaek. This list, filled with the poet's exchanges with the landscape, is more than enough to constitute an independent poem. Meanwhile, the list of wild vegetables among the five paragraphs can be said to be a poetic plant guide created by combining the experience and knowledge of a person who has been collecting wild vegetables in Mt. Sobaek for a long time with vivid and beautiful native Korean expressions. Accordingly, there is room to view the author as an elderly woman with the ability to express herself in native Korean and experiential knowledge of wild vegetables.
