국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 우울증을 경험한 대학생의 모래놀이치료 과정을 분석하여 자기(Self) 변환의 심리적 의미를 탐색하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 사례연구 방법을 적용하여 21세 여성 대학생의 12회기 모래상자 장면을 융의 분석심리학 관점에서 해석하였다. 분석 결과, 초기 회기에서는 공룡, 돌, 화석 등 원초적 충동과 정서적 고착을 상징하는 이미지가 나타났으나, 시간이 흐르며 나무, 백설공주, 만다라 등 성장과 통합을 지향하는 상징으로 변화하였다. 이러한 상징의 전환은 연금술적 변환의 세 단계(nigredo-albedo-rubedo)와 개성화(individuation)의 전형적 패턴을 반영하는 것으로 해석된다. 즉, 내담자는 무의식의 상징과의 대면을 통해 자기(Self)와 새로운 관계를 형성하고 삶의 의미를 재구성하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 모래놀이치료가 우울 내담자의 무의식 탐색과 자기통합을 촉진하는 효과적인 치료적 과정임을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore the psychological meaning of Self-transformation in a university student with depression through the process of sandplay therapy. Using a case study design, twelve sand scenes created by a 21-year-old female client were analyzed from the perspective of Jungian analytical psychology. The analysis revealed that early sessions included images such as dinosaurs, stones, and fossils, symbolizing primitive impulses and emotional fixation, while later sessions showed symbols representing growth and integration, such as trees, Snow White, and mandala structures. This symbolic transformation reflected the alchemical stages of nigredo albedo rubedo and the archetypal pattern of individuation. Through confronting the unconscious, the client gradually developed a renewed relationship with the Self and reconstructed the meaning of her life. These findings suggest that sandplay therapy functions as an effective therapeutic process that promotes unconscious exploration, Self-integration, and psychological development in clients with depression.
