국문 초록

Dressed to Kill, written and produced by Brian De Palma is a 1980 film. It is approximately a decade after a wave of feminism had occurred over the course of 1970s, and therefore well reflects on the side of Misogynistic viewpoint and Anti-feminism. In this film, the director, as a matter of fact, also known as a misogynist depicts females as inferior characters to males based on their social positions, intelligence and behaviors. The motives of an actress being murdered and punished are entirely described from patriarchal viewpoint, which leads to misogynistic viewpoint where the female is fully responsible for all of problems and reasons. Besides, such patriarchal backgrounds do not reveal its own intention on narratives since they are described and characterized as twisted thriller film. The overall point of view of Brian De Palma in this film is quite similar to Alfred Hitchcock who produced the film, . This study is to reevaluate “Dressed to Kill” based on misogynistic viewpoint and anti-feminism. The purpose of this analysis is to show how the director approaches to the overall views of patriarchy threatened by females in this film and how these threats are overcame by the director’s editing, lighting, screen partition and characters.
