무용은 어떻게 이해될 수 있는가? : 연행성의 미학에 기반한 무용교육에의 시사점

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 연행성의 미학에 기반하여 무용의 미적 경험을 이해하고 무용교육에 적용할 수 있는 시사점을 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 문헌분석을 통해 E. Fischer-Lichte의 ‘연행성의 미학’의 주요 개념을 검토하고, 무용교육의 관점에서 미적 경험을 해석하고 적용하고자 하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 무용의 미적 경험은 ‘신체성, 공간성, 소리성, 시간성’이라는 감각적 물질성을 토대로 형성되며, 이는 무용을 감각적으로 경험하고 의미화하는 미학적 기준으로 작용한다. 둘째, 미적 경험의 작동원리는 ‘신체적 공동 현존, 자동 형성적 피드백 고리, 세계의 재마법화’로 구성되며, 이는 감각적 상호작용과 변환적 의미 생성을 촉진한다. ‘신체적 공동 현존’은 교수자와 학습자가 시간과 공간을 공유하며 몰입과 현장성을 형성하고, ‘자동 형성적 피드백 고리’는 감각적 상호작용을 통해 학습자의 주체적 참여를 강화하며, ‘세계의 재마법화’는 지각의 전환과 변환적 체험을 이끌어내는 교육 전략으로 작용한다. 셋째, 이러한 미적 경험의 물질성과 작동원리는 신체-정신, 주체-객체, 일상-예술의 경계를 허물고 연결함으로써 무용교육이 현실을 재구성할 수 있는 변환적 힘과 가능성을 지닌다는 점을 제시한다. 결론적으로 무용교육은 학습자의 감각적 몰입과 창의적 의미 생성을 촉진하는 미적 경험 중심의 교육으로 구성되어야 함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the nature of aesthetic experience in dance based on the aesthetics of performativity and to examine its implications for dance education. Through a literature review, key concepts from E. Fischer-Lichte’s The Transformative Power of Performance were analyzed and applied from an educational perspective. The findings are as follows. First, the aesthetic experience of dance is formed through sensory materialities—corporeality, spatiality, sonority, and temporality—which serve as fundamental criteria for sensorial engagement and meaning-making in dance. Second, the operational principles of aesthetic experience—corporeal co-presence, autopoietic feedback loop, and re-enchantment of the world—facilitate sensory interaction and transformative meaning-making. ‘Corporeal co-presence’ fosters immersion and presence by enabling instructors and learners to share time and space; the ‘autopoietic feedback loop’ enhances learners’ active participation through real-time sensory interaction; and the ‘re-enchantment of the world’ functions as an educational strategy to induce perceptual transformation and transformative experiences. Third, these material and operational principles dismantle and reconnect the boundaries between body and mind, subject and object, and everyday life and art, suggesting that dance education possesses transformative potential to reconstruct reality. Ultimately, this study highlights the necessity for dance education to systematically structure aesthetic experiences centered on corporeality, sensory perception, temporality, spatiality, interaction, and transformation.
