국문 초록

본 연구는 생성형 인공지능을 활용한 국내 영어교육 연구 동향과 주요 주제를 파악하여 향후 연구 방향과 교육적 시사점을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 PRISMA 절차에 따라 2023년 1월부터 2025년 3월까지 RISS와 KCI에서 수집된 국내 학술 논문 52편을 대상으로 LDA 토픽 모델링과 체계적 문헌 분석을 병행하였다. 분석 결과, 도출된 주요 연구 주제는 ‘읽기 전략 향상’, ‘대학생 대상 생성형 AI 인식 조사 연구’, ‘프롬프트 기반 글쓰기 피드백 활용’, ‘초등영어교육에서의 활용 경험’, ‘생성형 AI 기반 영어 작문 평가’의 다섯 가지로 나타났다. 체계적 문헌 분석에서는 2024년 발표 문헌이 가장 많았고, 고등교육을 대상으로 한 연구가 대다수를 차지했으며, 연구 방법으로는 혼합 연구와 양적 연구가 주로 사용되었고, 쓰기 영역에서 가장 활발한 연구가 이루어졌다. 이러한 결과는 국내 영어교육에서 생성형 AI 활용이 특정 대상과 기능에 집중되어 있음을 보여주며, 다양한 언어 기능과 학습자 집단을 포괄하는 후속 연구가 요구됨을 시사한다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로, 국내 영어교육에서 생성형 인공지능의 효과적 활용 방안과 후속 연구의 방향성을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to identify the research trends and key themes in the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in English education in South Korea, and goes on to suggest directions for future research and educational implications. To this end, a total of 52 academic articles published between January 2023 and March 2025 were collected from RISS and KCI, and analyzed based on the LDA topic modeling and systematic literature review in accordance with the PRISMA protocol. The topic modeling analysis revealed five primary themes: (1) enhancing reading strategies, (2) perception studies on generative AI use among university students, (3) prompt-based writing feedback, (4) experiences in elementary English education, and (5) generative AI-based writing assessment. The systematic review showed that most studies were published in 2024, with a predominant focus on higher education. Mixed methods and quantitative approaches were most frequently employed, and the writing domain emerged as the most studied language skill. These findings indicate that current research on generative AI in English education is heavily concentrated on specific learner groups and skills, highlighting the need for future studies that address a broader range of language functions and educational contexts. Based on these results, this study proposes practical strategies for effectively applying generative AI in English education and outlines directions for subsequent research.
