전문상담교사의 학부모·학생 폭력 경험에 관한 질적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 전문상담교사가 학부모·학생으로부터 경험한 폭력의 본질을 탐색하고, 그 경험들이 전문상담교사의 정체성과 실존에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알기 위해 콜라이찌(Colaizzi, 1978)의 현상학 연구 방법을 적용한 질적 연구이다. 총 4명의 연구참여자를 대상으로 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하고 반복되는 의미 단위를 중심으로 분석을 하였다, 분석 결과, 폭력 경험은 3개의 상위 범주, 10개의 주제 묶음, 35개의 세부 주제가 도출되었다. 전문상담교사들은 폭력 경험에서 감정적 고통, 존재론적 혼란, 제도적 무력감으로 나타났으며, 이는 단순한 직무 스트레스를 넘어서 정체성의 근간을 흔드는 실존적 사건이었다. 이들은 정서 조절, 자기 돌봄, 신념 유지, 공식 대응 등을 통하여 위기를 의미화하고, 자신의 존재를 재정립하는 과정을 하고 있었다. 이러한 발견은 교사에 대한 폭력 문제를 단순한 사건이 아닌, 전문상담교사 개인의 존재, 윤리, 관계성에 영향을 미치는 깊은 수준의 문제로 이해할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 교권 회복과 심리적 개입 방안을 모색하는 데 이론적 토대를 제공하며, 제도적 지원 마련의 필요성을 제언한다.

영문 초록

This qualitative study applied Colaizzi's (1978) phenomenological research method to explore the nature of violence experienced by school counselors originating from parents and students, examining how these experiences affect the counselors’ identity and sense of existence. Data were collected through interviews with four participants and analyzed using recurring units of meaning. The analysis revealed three overarching categories, 10 theme clusters, and 35 subthemes related to violence. The counselors' experiences of violence were marked by emotional distress, ontological confusion, and institutional powerlessness, indicating that the impact went beyond mere job stress; the violence constituted an existential event that profoundly shook their core identity. The counselors were in the process of making meaning of their crises and redefining their existence through emotional regulation, self-care, belief maintenance, and formal responses. These findings suggest that violence against educators should not be viewed as isolated incidents, but as a deeply rooted problem that affects the existence, ethics, and relationships of individual counselors. This study provides a theoretical foundation for exploring restorative and psychological interventions and suggests the need for institutional support.
