本研究では日本の小学校高学年と中学校1年生の外国語科(英語)の連携がどのようにされているかを明らかにするために、6種類の外国語科検定教科書を異文化間コミュニケーションの視点から比較分析した。その結果、学習指導要領においての「話すこと(やり取り、発表)」の連携は段階的な目標設定になっていたが、それは小学校の言語活動の中で十分に慣れ親しんでいることを前提としていて、小学校の段階から簡単な内容でも言語活動の中で発表することに慣れておく必要があった。次に、小学校の外国語科検定教科書では、国際共通語としての英語を想定し多様な国が登場していた異文化題材は出版社にごとに特徴があり、啓林館が最も幅広い異文化間コミュニケーションを意識して作られていた。すべての検定教科書が、国旗を最も多く掲載したが、その取扱いは必ずしも意味のあるものではなかった。一方、6種類の中学1年の検定教科書では、小学校に比べると登場する外国と異文化題材はどちらも大幅に減少して、異文化題材の使い方は、小学校より目的をもった異文化間コミュニケーションの場面で使われるものが多かった。最後に、東京書籍の指導者用デジタル教科書の映像は、英語圏を中心とする本格的な本物の映像で、生徒にリアルな異文化との出会いを可能にしてくれる教材で、教員には有効なコンテンツになっていた。検定教科書だけでは伝わらない、多様な異文化や異文化間コミュニケーションの必然性をもたらす内容になっているので、教員の使い方によっては大変深い異文化理解につながり、話すこと(発表)のネタになると考えられる。教員は外国や異文化題材を活かした外国語の授業を行うことで、外国語教育での異文化理解は深まり、異文化間コミュニケーションへの基礎作りにつながると考えられる。教員の腕のみせところである。

영문 초록

This study examines how the foreign language (English) curriculum is linked between upper elementary and first-year junior high school students in Japan. To clarify this connection, six types of authorized foreign language textbooks were compared and analyzed from the perspective of intercultural communication. As a result, the linkage of the “Speaking (interaction, production)” section of the curriculum guideline was set as a step-by-step goal for content that had become sufficiently familiar in elementary school language activities, so it was necessary to emphasize presentations in language activities in elementary schools. In elementary school foreign language authorized textbooks, various countries appeared, conscious of English as an international language, and many intercultural topics such as national flags, scenery, meals, and buildings were covered. The publisher that made the textbooks with the widest intercultural communication in mind was Keirin-gwan. In addition, in the six types of middle school 1st grade authorized textbooks, the number of topics on foreign countries and other cultures decreased significantly compared to elementary school, and other culture topics were used in more purposeful intercultural communication scenes than in elementary school. Finally, the digital textbook for educators by Tokyo Books was helpful to teachers as it allowed students to encounter real other cultures along with authentic videos of English-speaking countries. If teachers used the various other cultures and inevitable scenes of intercultural communication that could not be conveyed through textbooks alone, they could lead to a very deep understanding of other cultures and serve as materials for speaking (production). It is thought that teachers will deepen their understanding of other cultures related to foreign language education and lead to the foundation of intercultural communication by using foreign countries or other culture topics in foreign language classes. This is where teacher competence is demonstrated.
