성소수자들의 마약류 중독 경험에 관한 질적 사례연구

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 마약류 중독 성소수자들이 어떻게 마약류를 사용하게 되고 중독에 이르게 되는지를 탐구하는 데 있다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 마약류 중독 성소수자 7명을 사례자로 선정하고 1:1 심층 면담을 통해 자료를 수집했다. 수집된 자료는 Creswell과 Poth(2024)가 제안한 질적 사례연구 방법을 활용해 분석했다. 분석 결과 사례자들은 성정체성 및 성적지향 혼란(말할 수 없는 비밀), 나와 비슷한 사람 찾기, 성적 욕구 해결을 위한 가벼운 만남, 파트너의 권유와 호기심, 긍정적 약물 경험, 낮아진 약물 재사용 장벽, 잊을 수 없는 기억, 급격히 늘어난 약물 사용량(직접구매), 개미지옥(약물 사용을 위한 성관계)이라는 단계별 중독 과정을 경험했다. 또한 연구자들은 사례자들이 마약류 중독에서 헤어 나올 수 없는 상태를 의미하는 이른바 ‘개미지옥’에 빠지게 만든 요인들을 확인할 수 있었다. 사례자들이 경험한 개미지옥은 육체적 금단과 갈망, 사회적 차별과 낙인으로 인한 스트레스, 자기 파괴적 심리, 자기혐오와 관련이 있었다. 이 같은 연구 결과를 바탕으로 연구자들은 청소년 대상 성정체감 및 성적지향에 대한 교육, 마약류 인식 및 감염병 예방 교육, 마약류 중독 성소자들이 겪는 사회적 차별과 낙인 해소를 위한 인식 개선 활동과 내면화된 자기 파괴 및 자기혐오 심리에 대한 트라우마 치료를 실천 및 정책적 대안으로 제시했다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore how LGBTQ(Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) people who are addicted to drugs experience drugs and lead to addiction. To achieve the purpose of the study, seven LGBTQ people who are addicted to drugs were selected as participants in our study and data was collected through 1:1 in-depth interviews. The collected data was analyzed using the case study method proposed by Creswell and Poth (2024). As a result of the investigation, it could be categorized into sexual identity confusion, sexual orientation confusion, efforts to meet people within the LGBT community, casual meetings to resolve sexual needs, partner's suggestion and curiosity, positive drug experience, lowered drug reuse barrier, unforgettable memory, rapidly increased drug use (direct purchase), and cases that fall into an “ant pit” meaning they cannot get out (sex for drug use). Additionally, indirect factors such as stress from social stigmas which lead to an experience of drugs, factors that sharply fall into an addiction state like the so-called “ant pit”, and factors like drug-used sex were checked. Based on the results of the study, the researchers suggested education on sexual identity and sexual orientation for adolescents, education on drug recognition and precluding of infectious diseases, improvement of awareness to eliminate social prejudice and stigma experienced by drug addicts, and treatment for internalized self-destruction and trauma to self-abhorrence.
