국문 초록

미군정 시기에 해당하는 교수요목기에는 당시 교육정책이 지향하던 경험중심 교육 또는 듀이를 중심으로 한 진보주의 교육의 영향을 받아 생활 경험과 관련지을 수 있는 내용을 구성하려는 노력이 이루어졌다. 이때 역사과는 사회생활과에 편입되어 있었기 때문에 과연 “이것이 역사교육의 진정한 모습인가?”라는 자성이 높았고, 그 영향으로 제1차 교육과정이 시행될 때에는 역사학 전문가들이 밝혀낸 사실 또는 학설을 대폭 수용하는 방향으로 나아갔다. 하지만 당시에는 지나치게 어렵고 전문적인 내용이 많았다. 그렇기 때문에 역사교사들은 교과서에 담겨진 내용을 가르치기 어려워했다. 실제로 역사 교과서에 수록된 내용 중에는 학계에서 가장 최근에 밝혀진 것도 많았고, 학자들 사이에서 논쟁이 진행되고 있는 것도 적지 않았다. 역사 교과서가 지나치게 어렵다는 지적이 이어짐에 따라 제2차 교육과정에서는 내용 수준이 대폭 하향 조정되었다. 그러나 역사학자들이 공유한 지식을 민족주의적으로 재해석해 새로운 평가를 덧붙이거나 사실과 맞지 않은 내용이 많이 포함되었다. 이로 인해 민족주의의 영향을 받아 편향된 내용이 많이 담기게 되었고, 이후 한동안 역사교육 내용도 그 영향을 크게 받게 되었다.

영문 초록

In the syllabus corresponding to the U.S. military government period, efforts were made to construct content that could be related to life experiences under the influence of experience-based education or progressive education centered on Dewey. At this time, since the history department was incorporated into the social life department, the self-reflection of “Is this the true form of history education?” was high, and as a result, when the first curriculum was implemented, it moved toward a significant acceptance of the facts or theories revealed by history experts. However, at the time, there were too many difficult and professional contents. That is why it was difficult for history teachers to teach what was contained in textbooks. In fact, many of the contents of the history textbook were revealed most recently in the academic world, and there were not a few debates among scholars. In the second curriculum, the content level was significantly lowered as it was pointed out that history textbooks were too difficult. However, the knowledge shared by historians was reinterpreted in a nationalistic way, adding new evaluations or containing a lot of content that was not true. As a result, nationalism influenced a lot of biased content, and for a while after that, the content of history education was greatly affected.
