국문 초록

본 연구는 다문화사회로의 전환기에 있는 한국 사회에서 복지에 대한 지지를 형성하는 핵심 요인으로 다문화수용성과 정치신뢰의 역할에 주목하였다. 이를 위해 다문화수용성이 복지태도에 미치는 영향을 정치 신뢰의 조절효과를 통해 모색하고자 하였다. 2023년 사회통합실태조사 응답자 8,221명을 대상으로 SPSS 26.0 통계 프로그램을 이용하여 위계적 회귀분석 방법으로 분석하였다. 연구결과, 다문화수용성은 분배지향태도, 복지확대를 위한 비용부담의지에 정적인 효과를 보이는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한, 정치 신뢰도 두 모형 모두에 정적인 영향을 주고 있었다. 이러한 가운데, 정치 신뢰의 조절효과를 살펴본 결과 분배지향태도 및 복지확대를 위한 비용부담의지 모형 모두에 강화효과가 나타났다. 본 연구는 그동안 국내 복지태도 연구에서 상대적으로 주목받지 못한 다문화수용성과 정치 신뢰가 복지태도에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인임을 밝혔으며, 특히 다문화수용성 제고가 복지태도를 긍정적으로 변화시킬 수 있는 가능성을 보여주었다. 아울러, 정치 신뢰는 복지와 이주민 정책이라는 이질적 정책 영역 간의 긴장 관계를 완화하고 조정하는 데 중요한 역할을 할 수 있음을 나타냈다는 함의가 있다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 내국인과 외국인의 사회적 자본 증진, 이주민과 공생하는 정부 정책, 투명한 정보공개 및 낮은 정보 접근권과 소통창구 마련으로 인한 정치 신뢰 향상을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study examines the roles of multicultural acceptance and political trust as key factors of welfare attitudes in Korean society, which is undergoing a transition into a multicultural society. This study investigates the impact of multicultural acceptance on welfare attitudes through the moderating effect of political trust. For the study, a hierarchical regression analysis was conducted using SPSS 26.0 with data from 8,221 respondents from the 2023 Korea Social Integration Survey. The results of the study confirmed that multicultural acceptance has a positive effect on both distribution-oriented attitudes and willingness to bear costs for welfare expansion. In addition, political trust had a positive effect on both models. Notably, political trust was found to strengthen the relationship between multicultural acceptance and welfare attitudes, indicating a clear moderating effect. This study revealed multicultural acceptance and political trust, which have been relatively overlooked in prior studies on welfare attitudes in Korea, as key factors shaping public support for welfare. In particular, it demonstrates that enhancing multicultural acceptance can lead to more favorable welfare attitudes. Furthermore, political trust plays a crucial role in mediating and alleviating tensions between the distinct policy domains of welfare and immigration. Based on these results, this study recommends enhancing social capital of Koreans and migrants, developing inclusive government policies, promoting transparent information disclosure, and strengthening political trust through greater access to information and establishment of communication channels.
