국내·외 과학관과 자연사박물관의 재해·재난 교육 프로그램 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 국내·외 과학관 및 자연사박물관에서 운영되고 있는 재해·재난 교육 프로그램을 분석하여 특징과 차이를조사하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 대상은 국내 국립 과학관 5개와 자연사박물관 2개, 국외 국립 과학관 10개와 자연사박물관4개로, 2020년 이후 운영된 재해․재난 프로그램 정보를 기관의 홈페이지로부터 수집하였다. 수집된 국내 50건, 국외 51건의 교육프로그램 소개 자료를 분석한 결과, 국내 프로그램은 국가 교육과정과의 연계성이 두드러졌다. 이들은 주로 지진, 화산과같은 지구물리 재해에 초점을 맞추어 발생 원리와 과정에 관련된 과학 지식을 강조하는 내용으로 구성되었다. 반면, 국외 프로그램은 기후 재해를 위주로 관련 지식을 넘어 재해·재난 완화 전략과 재해가 사회·경제·환경에 미치는 영향을 폭넓게 다루었다. 또한 학습자의 고차원적 사고를 기르고, 재해·재난 대응 행동의 실천을 촉진하는 프로그램이 더 많았다. 교수 방법과 학습자측면에서도 국외 프로그램의 다양성과 참여 수준이 더 높았다. 국외에서는 토론, 시연, 현장 답사와 같이 학습자의 참여와경험을 중시하는 교수 방법이 도입되었으며, 교사를 위한 전문성 개발 프로그램과 교수학습 자료 공유도 활발히 이루어지고 있었다. 국내·외 차이를 바탕으로 국내 비형식 교육 기관의 재해·재난 교육 프로그램의 개선점을 제시하고, 향후 발전 방향에 대한시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This research aims to compare and analyze hazard education programs operated in domestic and international science museums and natural history museums, to identify and discover their characteristics and differences. The research sub- jects include five national science museums and two natural history museums in South Korea, as well as ten national science museums and four natural history museums abroad. Information on disaster education programs operated since 2020 was col- lected from the official websites of these institutions. An analysis of 50 domestic and 51 international educational program materials revealed that domestic programs strongly emphasized their alignment with the national curriculum, primarily focus- ing on geophysical disasters, such as earthquakes and volcanoes, and highlighting the underlying scientific principles and pro- cesses behind these events. In contrast, international programs tended to focus on climate-related hazards, and more comprehensively addressed hazard mitigation strategies, the socio-economic and environmental impacts of hazards, and higher-order thinking skills. Furthermore, international programs exhibited a greater diversity of teaching methods and a higher level of learner engagement, incorporating participatory and experiential approaches, such as discussions, demonstrations, and field trips. Addition- ally, professional development programs for educators and the sharing of teaching and learning materials were actively promoted. Based on these domestic and international differences, this study proposes improvements for hazard education programs in informal educational institutions in South Korea and provides insights into future development direction.
