귀국학생의 중·고등학교생활 회고담에 관한 질적 연구: 부모와 동행하여 일본 생활을 한 경우를 중심으로

국문 초록

이 연구는 부모와 동행하여 일본에서 생활하다가 중·고등학교시기에 귀국한 학생의 학교생활은 어떠하였는지를 탐색하기 위하여 면담을 통해 그들의 귀국 후 학교생활에 대해 KJ법(가와키타 川喜田, 1986)으로 분석하였다. KJ법은 질적 연구의 한 방법으로서 탐색적으로 얻어진 이질적인 자료에 대해 분석과 통합의 두 가지 방법을 관련 지어가며 정리하여 어떠한 현상의 전체상을 드러내는 데 강점이 있다. 분석 결과, 귀국학생의 학교생활은 1개의 묶음과 5개의 그룹으로 구성된다. 먼저, 1개의묶음은 일본과는 달리 힘들고 여유 없는 생활, 학업의 어려움과 지원 요청, 친구 관계의 양상, 교사와 관계 맺기 어려움, 한일 관계를 둘러싼 환경에 의한 난처한 입장, 한국 생활에 대한 부정적인 심리 상태를 나타내는 그룹들과, 학원에 다니지 않고 혼자서 공부했다는 단독 라벨로 구성된다. 다음으로 5개의 그룹은 편입 시 상황, 가족과의 좋은 관계, 일본 사람들과 일본에 대해 우호적인 감정을 갖고 있었다, 한일 양국에 대한 이해의 폭이 넓어졌다, 미래에 삶에 대한 고민과 희망이 있다는 내용으로 구성된다. 이처럼, 일본에서 귀국한 학생들은 힘들고 여유 없는 생활 속에서 학업, 친구·교사와의 관계 맺기의 어려움을 겪었고, 한일 관계를 둘러싼 환경에 의해 난처한 입장에 놓이게 됨으로서 부정적인 심리상태에 있었다. 그러나 귀국학생은 이처럼 황량한 학교 환경에 노출되었음에도 불구하고, 학교생활의 어려움과 자신이 자라온 환경으로서 일본 사람들과 일본에 대해 느끼는 우호적인 감정을 잘 수용한 끝에 한일 양국에 대한 이해의 폭을 넓힐 수 있었다. 귀국학생은 이러한 과정을 통해서 수용된 일들이 자신의 미래의 삶에 영향을 줄 것이라고 생각하였다. This research analyzed the school life of returnee students who had stayed with their parents in Japan and returned to their home countries while they were in middle/high school. Their school life was analyzed after having conducted several interviews and by KJ method. The results of the analysis reveal that the school life of the returnees is composed of one bunch and five groups. Firstly, the one bunch is made up of students who had difficulty adapting to their home countries after their return, forming relationships with friends and teachers, asking for support, and who had negative viewpoints on Korea, along with an independent label of student who studied solely on one``s own without getting educational support, tutoring, etc. The following five groups, on the other hand, had positive viewpoints on Japan and good relationships with their families on their return, and said that their range of understanding of the Korea-Japan relationship had become wider and that they had worries and hopes for their future. Likewise, the returnee students from Japan had a hard time forming relationships with their friends and teachers in an environment that was very demanding and lacked opportunities for leisure, and were consequently in a negative psychological state. But the returnees, despite having been exposed to such a barren school environment, succeeded in coping with the difficulties they faced and their positive sentiments on Japan. As a result, their understanding of both the countries, Korea and Japan, was increased. Moreover, the returnees revealed that what they had gone through during this period would have a certain impact on them later in life.
