다와다 요코(多和田葉子)의 ｢개 신랑 들이기 (犬婿入り)｣에 나타난 소수자 차별과 공존 윤리

국문 초록

본고에서는 다와다 요코의 ｢개 신랑 들이기｣에 나타난 문제의식을 고찰하였다. 먼저 개 신랑인 이루마 다로의 행적을 살펴보면, 다로는 성격과 체질때문에 직장에서 생활할 때 차별과 억압을 받았다. 또한 다로는 자신의 성격과 체질로 인해 료코와의 신혼 생활이 불편하고 버거웠다. 결국 그와 료코의결혼 생활은 파탄에 이르렀다. 료코와 헤어진 후 낮에는 미쓰코와 밤에는 마쓰바라와 지내며 자신의 성격과 체질, 욕망을 자연스럽고 당당히 드러낸 다로는 자신을 부정적으로 인식한 미쓰코와 결별하였고 자신을 있는 그대로 인정해 준 마쓰바라와 함께 다마를 떠났다. 다음으로 다마를 떠난 것의 의미를살펴보면, 차별과 억압에서 벗어나기 위한 떠남은 새로운 공동체의 형성 또는 기존 공동체의 갱신의 측면에서 건설적 선택이었고 자연환경의 보존, 사회적 갈등의 최소화 등에 일조할 수 있는 노마드적 삶으로 해석될 수 있었다. 그렇지만 다로를 포함한 소수자의 떠남은 개 신랑을 들이는 일이 성공적이지않았음을 뜻하였고, 앞으로도 차별과 억압 때문에 다마를 떠나는 이탈자가발생할 가능성을 배제할 수 없었다. 또한 작품이 사회 현실의 문제를 드러내고 비판하여 디스토피아의 요인을 개선하고 유토피아를 건설하기 위해 노력하자는 제안이었다면, 구성원의 일부가 떠나야 하는 사회에 대한 성찰을 요구한 것으로 판단되었다. 그래서 작가는 작품을 통해 사회의 구성원들이 표준화된 문화를 기반으로 보다 나은 삶을 영위하고 있는지 성찰할 것을 요청하였고, 협력을 통해 소수자 차별 문제를 해결하여 보다 나은 삶을 영위할 수있기를 기대하였음을 논하였다. 즉 개 신랑을 들인다는 설정은 소수자에 대한 억압과 폭력이 난무하는 현실을 비판하고, 다수와 소수자 모두 보다 나은삶을 영위할 수 있기를 기대하는 마음으로 활용한 서사적 장치이자, 다수와소수자가 서로의 삶을 제한하는 경계를 조절할 때 각자의 저력을 발휘할 수있다는 사유의 도구였다.

영문 초록

I considered the critical mind in ｢Taking a Dog Bridegroom｣ written by Tawada Yoko. First, I examined trace of the past of the dog bridegroom Yiruma Daro. He was discriminated and suppressed at the workplace because of his character and constitution. And then the newlywed life with Ryoko was uncomfortable for him, so he felt like a burden. Daro and Ryoko finally had their marriage broken down. After breaking up with Ryoko, he was tight with Mitsuko in the daytime, and he was close-knit with Matsubara at night, showing up spontaneously and confidently his own desire, character and constitution. After about two months he split with Mitsuko who perceived him negatively, and he left the place of residence with Matsubara who accepted him at his own currency. Second, I examined egress of Daro. He left the place of residence to become free from discrimination and suppression. The egress would be constructive choice in terms of formation of new community or a renewal of established community. In addition it would be comprehended as a nomadic life that could play a part in conservation of the natural environment and minimization of social conflict. However the egress of minorities including him meant that taking the dog bridegroom was not successful. Also it was possible that someone among other minorities would execute a plan to leave the place of residence to become free from discrimination and suppression. Besides if the work was suggestion that we should correct causes of dystopia and endeavor to construct utopia criticizing a matter of social reality, it was considered to think about real situation that social members had no choice but to leave the place of residence. Therefore I inferred that the writer requested that all members of society should contemplate lives in a standardized culture and the writer expected they could solve minorities discrimination problem to have better lives.
