심층면접을 통해서 본 역사수업의 실태

국문 초록

‘코로나19’의 영향으로 학교 현장은 교육격차의 심화, 기초학습미달 학생의 증가, 사회성 미숙 등으로 어려움을 겪고 있다. 이러한 어려움에 대응하는 역사교육과정 개발이 필요하다. 그를 위해서는 학교 현장에 대한 실태 파악 및 학습자의 특성에 대한 이해가 선행되어야 한다. 필자는 응고화된 장기기억은 쉽게 잊혀지지 않는 점에 착안하여‘역사’를 이수한 지 일 년 정도 지난 학습자들을 대상으로 설문 조사와 심층 면접을 진행하였다. 먼저, 75명을 대상으로 역사수업의 참여 실태, ‘역사’가 어려운 이유, 역사수업을 통해 배운 역사지식을 확인하는 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 그리고 그 결과를 가지고 사전에 선발된 6명의 학습자를 대상으로 심층면접을 진행하였다. 연구 결과, 학교 현장의 역사수업의 실태, 학습자들이 겪고 있는 ‘역사’의 어려움에 대해 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 동일 교사에게서 동일한 교과교육과정을 이수한 학습자들이 가지고 있는 공통의 기억을 확인하고 공통의 기억이 만들어진 이유에 대해서도 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구가 역사교육과정의 최종 소비자인 학습자의 특성을 이해하고, 학교 현장의 역사수업 실태를 파악하는데 도움이 되어 새로운 역사교육과정이 개발되는 과정에서 참고가 되기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

Under the influence of 'COVID-19', the school field is experiencing difficulties due to a widening educational gap, an increase in the number of students lacking basic learning, and immaturity in social skills. It is necessary to develop a history curriculum to respond to these difficulties. For this, it is necessary to understand the actual situation of the school site and understand the characteristics of learners. I paid attention to the fact that coagulated long-term memory is not easily forgotten. I conducted a survey and in-depth interview with learners who had completed ‘History’ for about a year. First, I conducted a survey of 75 students to confirm the actual status of participation in history classes, why ‘history’ is difficult, and the historical knowledge learned through history lessons. And with the results, I conducted in-depth interviews with six learners. As a result of the research, I was able to confirm the reality of school history lessons. It was also possible to confirm the difficulties of history lessons that learners are experiencing. In addition, I confirmed the common memory of learners who completed the same curriculum from the same teacher and the reason why the common memory was created. Through this study, I hope to understand the characteristics of the learner, the final consumer of the history curriculum. And I hope to understand the actual situation of history lessons in schools and to be a reference in the process of developing a new history curriculum.
