국문 초록

본 연구는 가톨릭 신학생의 생명윤리의식 수준을 살펴보고 이에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하여 생명윤리교육의 방향 및 체계 확립을 위한 기초자료를 제시하고자 수행되었다. 연구 방법은 전국 6개 신학교의 1학년부터 부제반 중 교구와 수도회 소속 사제지망생을 대상으로 생명윤리의식 수준과 생명윤리의식에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위해 설문조사로 진행하였다. 가톨릭 신학생의 생명윤리의식에 영향을 미치는 요인은 윤리적 민감성의 하위영역인 개인과 집단 간 차이 다루기, 공감의 하위영역인 무관심(역문항)으로 나타났다. 또한 일반적 특성은 학년, 연령으로 나타났고, 생명윤리 관련 특성은 윤리적 가치관, 생명윤리에 대해 들어봄, 생명윤리 교육 경험, 향후 생명윤리 교육 참여 의사가 유의미한 차이를 나타냈다. 본 연구는 가톨릭 신학생의 생명윤리의식에 관한 양적 연구가 미흡한 상황에서 생명윤리의식 수준을 알아보고 윤리적 민감성과 공감을 중심으로 생명윤리의식에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하였다는 데에 큰 의의가 있다. 향후 가톨릭 신학생의 생명윤리의식을 향상하기 위한 연구가 더욱 활발히 이루어지길 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to examine the level of bioethics awareness among Catholic Seminarians and identify the factors influencing it, with the aim of providing foundational data for establishing the direction, and system of bioethics education. The research method involved a survey targeting seminarians from dioceses and religious orders, ranging from first-year students to deacons at six seminaries nationwide, to determine their level of bioethics awareness and the factors affecting it. Factors influencing the bioethics awareness of Catholic seminarians included dealing with differences between individuals and groups, a subdomain of ethical sensitivity, and indifference (a reverse-scored item), a subdomain of compassion. Additionally, general characteristics such as academic year and age, and bioethics-related characteristics such as ethical values, exposure to bioethics concepts, experience in bioethics education, and willingness to participate in future bioethics education showed significant differences. This study holds great significance in that it explored the level of bioethics awareness and identified influencing factors, focusing on ethical sensitivity and compassion, at a time when quantitative research on the bioethics awareness of Catholic seminarians is scarce. It is hoped that further research to enhance the bioethical awareness of Catholic seminarians will be actively pursued in the future.
