[論文] 『단층』의 동인 양운한의 문학사적 가치와 복원

국문 초록

본 연구는 그간 한국시문학사에서 누락된, 1930년대 모더니스트 시인이자 『단층』(斷層, 1937~1940)의 동인 양운한(楊雲閒)의 작가적 생애와 활동을 복원하고자 1930년대에서 1950년대에 이르는 시와 산문을 처음으로 목록화 했으며 1930년대 시작품의 주제와 경향을 분석하여 양운한의 문학적 성과와 의의를 논했다. 작가 생애의 측면에서 양운한(1907~1977)이 평안남도 숙천 출신으로 광성고보(1924~1928)와 숭실전문학교(1932~1935)를 졸업했다는 점을 사료를 통해 확정했다. 문학적 성과와 관련하여 주목할 첫 번째 특성은 평양의 도시적 삶에 대한 비판적 인식을 기반으로 한 모더니즘의 구현이다. 그는 근대 식민도시 평양의 풍경과 더불어 그 속에 내재한 억압적이고 비인간적인 식민지의 현실을 시화했다. 두 번째 주요 특성은 장시 형식의 창작을 들 수 있다. 그는 전통 서정시의 양식을 넘어 긴 호흡을 지닌 장시를 통해 시대적, 역사적 현실을 서사적으로 재현했다. 세 번째 특성으로 시각적 이미지, 카메라 렌즈의 시점, 영화적 장면 묘사 등의 기법을 통해 시의 분위기와 주제의식을 효과적으로 구현하는 모더니즘 시의 방법론을 사용하고 있음에 주목할 수 있었다. 장시 형식과 시각적 재현 기법, 그리고 일제 수탈에 따른 도시와 농촌 현실에 대한 비판적 이해를 통해 양운한은 『단층』의 시인을 넘어, 평양이라는 지역성과 식민도시의 현실을 기반으로 한, 한국 모더니즘 시의 새로운 지평을 보여주었다.

영문 초록

This study aims to restore the life and activities of Yang Woon-han (楊雲 閒), a modernist poet and member of the group 『La Dislocation』 (斷層, 1937– 1940), who has been omitted from the history of Korean poetry, and cataloged his poetry and prose from the 1930s to the 1950s for the first time. It also analyzed the themes and trends of his 1930s poetry and examined his literary achievements and significance. In terms of his life, it was confirmed through historical materials that Yang Woon-han (1907–1977) was from Sukchon, Pyeongannam-do, and graduated from Gwangseong High School (1924– 1928) and Sungsil College (1932–1935). The first characteristic to note in relation to his literary achievements is the implementation of modernism based on a critical awareness of urban life in Pyongyang. He poeticized the landscape of the modern colonial city of Pyongyang and the oppressive and inhumane colonial reality inherent in it. The second major characteristic is the creation of a long poem format. He narratively reproduced the contemporary and historical reality through long poems. The third characteristic is that he used the methodology of modernist poetry to effectively implement the atmosphere and thematic consciousness of the poem through techniques such as visual images, the perspective of a camera lens, and the depiction of cinematic scenes. Through the long poem format, visual reproduction techniques, and a critical understanding of the urban and rural realities resulting from Japanese exploitation, Yang Woon-han showed a new horizon of Korean modernist poetry based on the regionality of Pyongyang and the reality of a colonial city, beyond the poet of 『La Dialocation』.
