국문 초록

본 연구는 정신장애인을 위한 정신건강 증진접근을 개념화하고, 이를 실현하기 위한 전략을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 기존의 국내 정신건강 정책은 정신건강 증진과 정신재활 간의 연계성을 구체화하지 못하고 있으며, 정신장애인을 위한 증진접근 또한 예방과 조기개입 수준에 머무르고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는 정신장애인도 정신건강을 경험할 수 있다는 전제하에, 회복을 정신건강 증진의 궁극적 목표로 설정하고이를 실현하기 위한 주요 표적 문제로 낙인과 신체건강 문제와 같은 이차적 상태를 제안한다. 이차적 상태는 통합감과 일반적 저항자원의 약화와 밀접하게 연관되어 있으며, 반대로 이 두 요소의 강화는 이차적 상태의 완화와 회복을 가능하게 한다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구는 건강 생성론에 근거하여 정신건강 증진의 작동 기제를 이론적으로 구조화하고, 오타와 헌장에서 제시된 건강증진 전략을 정신장애인의 삶의 맥락에 맞게 적용하는 방안을 제시하였다. 특히 정신건강 증진병원, 신체건강 서비스 확대, 탄력성 강화 프로그램 등은 정신장애인의 적극적 정신건강향상에 실질적으로 기여할 수 있는 핵심 전략으로 논의되었다. 본 연구는 정신장애인을 위한 정신건강 증진접근을 개념적 수준에서 구체화하고, 정신건강 정책 및 실천전략 개발에 기초자료를 제공한다는 점에서이론적·정책적 의의를 지닌다.

영문 초록

This study aims to conceptualize a mental health promotion approach for individuals with mental illness and to propose strategies for its implementation. In South Korea, existing mental health policies have yet to clarify the connection between mental health promotion and psychiatric rehabilitation, and promotion efforts for people with mental illness remain limited to prevention and early intervention. Based on the premise that individuals with mental illness are also capable of experiencing mental health, this study positions recovery as the ultimate goal of mental health promotion and identifies secondary conditions such as stigma and physical — — health issues as key target problems. These secondary conditions are closely linked to weakened sense of coherence (SOC) and general resistance resources (GRRs); conversely, enhancing SOC and GRRs can alleviate these conditions and support recovery. Grounded in the theory of salutogenesis, this study theoretically structures the causal mechanisms of mental health promotion and explores how the health promotion strategies presented in the Ottawa Charter can be applied within the lived contexts of people with mental illness. In particular, mental health promoting hospitals, expanded physical health services, and resilience enhancement programs are identified as core strategies that can meaningfully contribute to improving positive mental health. This study offers a conceptual framework for mental health promotion tailored to people with mental illness and provides foundational insights for future development of mental health policy and practice.
