대한민국 수산물 수출경쟁력 분석: 주요 수산물 수출국가와 비교 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 2014년부터 2023년까지의 데이터를 바탕으로 대한민국과 주요 수산물 수출국들의 수출경쟁력을 시장점유율(MS), 무역특화지수(TSI), 대칭적 현시비교우위지수(SRCA)를 통해 평가하였다. 분석 대상 품목은 냉동 어류(HS 코드 0303), 어류 필렛 및 기타 어육(HS 코드 0304), 연체동물(HS 코드 0307)이다. 분석 결과, 대한민국의 수출경쟁력은 품목별로 상이한 양상을 보였다. 냉동 어류 부문에서는 낮은 시장점유율에도 불구하고 비교우위를 나타내어 성장 가능성이 확인되었다. 어류 필렛 및 기타 어육 부문에서는 낮은 시장점유율과 비교열위를 나타내어 경쟁력 개선이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 연체동물 부문에서는 수출 특화 상태를 유지하고 있으나 낮은 시장점유율과 비교열위로 인해 추가적인 경쟁력 제고 노력이 요구된다. 본 연구는 대한민국의 수산물 수출경쟁력 강화를 위한 정책적 대응에 중요한 기초 자료를 제공하며, 각 품목군별 차별화된 전략의 필요성을 제시하고 있다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate South Korea's seafood export competitiveness using data from 2014, 2018, and 2023 by conducting a comparative analysis with major exporting countries. Through this evaluation, this study tries to identify tailored strategies to strengthen South Korea's competitiveness in the global seafood market. Research design, data, and methodology: This study employs three trade indices- Market Share(MS), Trade Specialization Index(TSI), and Symmetric Revealed Comparative Advantage(SRCA)- to assess export competitiveness. The analysis focuses on three product categories: frozen fish(HS code 0303), fish fillets(HS code 0304), and mollusks(HS code 0307). Data from Trade Map provided by the ITC, covering the period from 2014 to 2023, were used for a comparative analysis across countries. Results: The findings reveal significant differences in South Korea's export competitiveness across product categories. In frozen fish(HS code 0303), Korea demonstrates comparative advantage despite its low market share. In fish fillets(HS code 0304), low market share and comparative disadvantage requires the improvement of competitiveness. In mollusks(HS code 0307), Korea maintains export specialization, but its low market share and comparative disadvantage indicate the need for further efforts to enhance competitiveness. Conclusions: This study provides essential foundational data for policy development to enhance the export competitiveness of South Korea's seafood industry and suggests differentiated strategies for each product category.
