선교의 도구로서 음악사용에 관한 고찰: 파키스탄 수피즘(Sufism) 선교를 위한 시편 사용 가능성을 중심으로

국문 초록

연구자는 본 연구에서 파키스탄 수피즘 무슬림들에게 시편을 통한 선교의 가능성을 논의하였다. 시편은 기독교와 이슬람(수피즘) 간의 공통된 신성한 유산이기에 두 종교 간의 대화와 이해를 증진시키는 주요한 수단이 될 수 있음을 고찰했다. 수피즘에서 음악과 시(poetry)는 사람들을 하나로 모으고, 영적 경험을 공유하는 중요한 매개체로 사용되고 있다. 구약의 시편도 간구와 찬양의 시적 감정들을 직접적으로 하나님께 표현하고 있으며 그것들을 승리와 기쁨, 소망뿐만 아니라 두려움 등하나님의 백성들이 겪는 모든 감정을 담고 있는 책이다. 선교사명(마 28:19-20)을 받은 기독교인들은 신비주의 수피즘뿐만 아니라 전통이슬람도 시편을 신성하게 여기는 전통을 갖고 있음을 잊지 않아야 한다. 이슬람의 율법적 교리보다 영성(靈性, spirituality)을 추구하며, 이슬람 정통 교파와 다르게 문화적 교류의 범위를 넓혀가고자 하는 수피즘은 선교적 접촉점으로 지속적 연구 대상이다. “글렌 아이리 보고서: 무슬림 전도”(The Glen Eyrie Report: Muslim Evangelization) 에서 천명한 것처럼 우리는 복음의 유일성을 확고하게 지키면서도 겸손 속에서의 대화, 무슬림에 대한 과격한 비난을 자제함, 이슬람교리가 거짓된 예언이라는 주장을 피하고 대신 공통의 유산인 시편을 통해 수피즘 선교의 가능성을 지속적으로 연구할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The researcher discussed the possibility of evangelism through the Psalms among Sufi Muslims in Pakistan in this study. The Psalms, being a common sacred heritage between Christianity and Islam (Sufism), could serve as a significant means to enhance dialogue and understanding between the two religions. In Sufism, music and poetry are important mediums used to unite people and share spiritual experiences. Also the Psalms of the Old Testament express poetic emotions of supplication and praise directly to God, encompassing all the feelings experienced by God’s people, including victory, joy, hope, and fear. Christians who have received the great commission (Matthew 28:19-20), should not forget that both mystical Sufism and traditional Islam hold the Psalms in high regard. Sufism, which seeks spirituality rather than legalistic doctrines of Islam and aims to broaden the scope of cultural exchange compared to orthodox Islamic sects, remains a continuous subject of research for missionary contact points. As stated in the Glen Eyrie Report: Muslim Evangelization, we need to firmly uphold the uniqueness of the Gospel while engaging in humble dialogue, refraining from harsh criticism of Muslims, avoiding the claim that Islamic doctrine is false prophecy, and instead continuously researching the possibilities of Sufi evangelism through the common heritage of the Psalms.
