국문 초록

본 논문의 목적은 종교개혁의 5대 솔라(Sola)가 예정론과 밀접하다는 점을 밝히는 것이다. 이를 위해 필자는 칼빈의 예정론에 나타난 5대 솔라를 추적했다. 5대 솔라의 ‘오직’이라는 말이 세미펠라기우스주의의 신인협력설에 내포된 ‘두 가지 모두’에 대하여 ‘오직 하나만’이라는 의미로 사용되었다는 관점에서, 그 ‘오직 하나만’이 무엇인지를 파악하는 방법으로 연구하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 칼빈의 예정론에 나타난 ‘오직 성경으로’는 전통과 성경 둘 모두에게가 아니라 오직 성경에만 최고의 권위를 부여하는 것이며, 예정론의 탐구범위를 성경으로 제한하는 것이다. ‘오직 은혜로’는 믿음이 자유의지와 은혜의 협동으로 일어나는 것이 아니라, 오직 하나님의 은혜로만 가능하다는 의미이다. ‘오직 믿음으로’는 구원의 조건이 믿음과 선행이 아니라 오직 믿음으로만 가능하다는 것이다. ‘오직 그리스도’는 인간의 공로와 그리스도의 공로가 아니라 유일한 중보자 그리스도의 공로만이 선택의 근거이고, 오직 그리스도 안에서 우리가 선택되었다는 의미이다. 마지막으로, 그리스도 안에서 선택받고 믿게 되고 구원받는 것이 오직 하나님의 은혜로만 가능하므로, 인간과 하나님이 영광을 함께 받는 것이 아니라, ‘오직 하나님께 영광을’ 돌리는 것이 마땅하다는 의미이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to reveal that the five solas of the Reformation are closely related to the doctrine of predestination. To achieve this, we traced the five Solas as they appear in Calvin’s doctrine of predestination. From the perspective that the term “sola” (meaning “only”) was used to counter the “both-and” concept implied in the semi-Pelagian synergism, we conducted the study by identifying what constitutes this “only.” The findings are as follows: “Scripture Alone” in Calvin’s doctrine of predestination grants supreme authority not to both tradition and Scripture but solely to Scripture, and it limits the scope of predestination to what is revealed in Scripture. “Grace Alone” means that faith does not arise from the cooperation of free will and grace but is possible only by God’s grace. “Faith Alone” affirms that salvation is conditioned not on faith and works but solely on faith. “Christ Alone” emphasizes that the basis of election is not human merit and Christ’s merit combined but only the merit of Christ as the sole mediator, and that we are chosen solely in Christ. Finally, being chosen in Christ, led to faith, and saved are possible only by God’s grace, so glory is not shared between God and humanity; rather, “Glory to God Alone” is appropriate.
