가정폭력피해자 보호시설 여성들의 경험에 대한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 가정폭력 피해 여성들이 보호시설에서 겪은 경험과 퇴소 후 직면하는 문제들을 심층적으로 탐구하고, 이들의 안정적이고 자립적인 삶을 지원하기 위한 정책적 대안을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 가정폭력은 가족 간의 지속적이고 반복적인 폭력 행위로 인해 피해자들에게 심각한 신체적, 정신적, 사회적 상처를 남기며, 이는 개인적 문제를 넘어 사회적 문제로 확산된다. 본 연구에서는 가정폭력 피해 여성 8명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 수행하고 Giorgi의 현상학적 연구 방법을 적용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 피해 여성들의 경험은 다음과 같이 요약된다. 첫째, 피해 여성들은 가정폭력 상황에서 벗어나기 위해 강렬한 욕구를 보였으나, 보호시설 입소 과정에서 정보 부족과 절차적 어려움으로 혼란을 겪었다. 둘째, 보호시설은 안전과 심리적 안정을 제공했으나, 여성들은 여전히 경제적 불안과 사회적 낙인에 대한 두려움을 가지고 있었다. 셋째, 퇴소 후 피해 여성들은 자립을 위한 경제적 지원 부족, 지속적인 폭력의 위협, 사회적 고립 등 현실적인 문제들에 직면하였다. 넷째, 퇴소 후 지원 체계의 미비와 사회적 지지망 부재는 여성들의 재기와 자립에 부정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 이에 따라, 본 연구는 보호시설 이용과 관련된 정보 제공을 강화하고, 퇴소 후에도 지속적인 심리 상담과 사회적 지원을 제공하며, 경제적 자립을 지원하기 위한 직업 교육과 취업 지원 프로그램을 마련하고, 안정적인 주거 환경을 조성하며, 사회적 낙인 완화를 위한 대중 인식 개선 활동을 제언한다. 이 연구는 가정폭력 피해 여성들의 자립과 삶의 질 향상을 위한 사회복지 정책 수립에 기여하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study aims to deeply explore the experiences of domestic violence victims in shelters and the problems they face after leaving them, and to suggest policy alternatives to support their stable and independent lives. Domestic violence leaves serious physical, mental, and social scars on victims due to continuous and repeated acts of violence between family members, and this spreads beyond personal problems to social problems. In this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with eight domestic violence victims and the data were analyzed using Giorgi’s phenomenological research method. The results of the analysis summarize the experiences of the victims as follows. First, the victims showed a strong desire to escape from the domestic violence situation, but they experienced confusion due to lack of information and procedural difficulties during the process of entering the shelter. Second, the shelter provided safety and psychological stability, but the women still had economic insecurity and fear of social stigma. Third, after leaving the shelter, the victims faced realistic problems such as lack of economic support for independence, the threat of continuous violence, and social isolation. Fourth, the lack of a support system and social support network after leaving the shelter had a negative impact on the women’s recovery and independence. Accordingly, this study suggests strengthening the provision of information related to the use of protective facilities, providing continuous psychological counseling and social support after discharge, establishing job training and employment support programs to support economic independence, creating a stable living environment, and improving public awareness to alleviate social stigma. This study aims to contribute to the establishment of social welfare policies to improve the independence and quality of life of women who are victims of domestic violence.
