코로나19 팬데믹 전·후의 자원봉사 변화 추이와 활성화 방안 연구 : 텍스트 마이닝 분석기법의 활용

국문 초록

본 연구는 코로나19 팬데믹 전·후 자원봉사활동의 변화추이와 자원봉사 활성화 방안을 모색하기 위하여 2018년부터 2023년까지 약 6년간 자원봉사에 관한 언론보도 기사를 텍스트 마이닝 분석기법을 활용하여 코로나19 팬데믹 전·후 자원봉사 변화 흐름을 분석하고, 시기별 사회적 이슈와 비교하여 이를 바탕으로 이후 자원봉사활동 활성화 방안을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 자료수집과 분석은 먼저, 2018년부터 2019년까지 코로나19 이전 시기(1차 시기), 2020년부터 2022년까지 코로나19 팬데믹에 해당하는 시기(2차 시기), 2023년 이후 포스트 코로나 시기(3차 시기)와 같이 3단계 시기로 나누어 빅카인즈 시스템을 활용하여 언론 기사를 수집하였다. 텍스트 마이닝 분석 결과를 살펴보면 첫째, 1, 2, 3차 시기 기사 수 비교를 통해 자원봉사에 대한 관심을 확인할 수 있었는데, 이는 3차, 1차, 2차 시기 순으로 관심도가 많음을 알 수 있었다. 특히 2차 시기 기사 수가 가장 적은 이유는 코로나19 감염병으로 인한 사회적 거리 두기로 인해 자원봉사활동이 줄어든 결과이며, 결과적으로 자원봉사활동에 대한 관심도 줄어들었음을 의미한다. 또한, 3차 시기 기사량이 가장 많은 이유는 다시금 국제적인 자원봉사활동이 활발해지기 시작했으며 여전히 재난재해 자원봉사활동은 지속적으로 발생되었기에 기사 수가 늘어난 것으로 파악할 수 있었다. 둘째, TF-IDF 분석에 따라 시기별 자원봉사활동에 대한 뉴스 기사들의 주요 키워드는 무엇이며 어떻게 변화되었는지 살펴보면, 시기별 Top 5는 다음과 같았다. 1차 시기에는 ‘피해, 태풍, 대회, 복구, 안전’등의 단어의 빈도가 높았다. 2차 시기에는 ‘복구, 피해, 태풍, 산불, 코로나’ 등의 단어 빈도가 높았다. 3차 시기에는 ‘복구, 피해, 튀르, 산불, 수해’ 등의 단어가 상위 빈도로 나타났다. 마지막으로 연구결과를 바탕으로 시기별 사회적 이슈와 비교하여 실천적이며, 정책적인 방향성을 포함한 자원봉사 활성화 방안을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the change trend of volunteer activities before and after the COVID-19 pandemic using text mining analysis method from media reports on volunteering for about 6 years from 2018 to 2023 in order to find ways to revitalize volunteer activities before and after the COVID-19 pandemic, and to compare them with social issues in each period and suggest ways to revitalize volunteer activities in the future. Data collection and analysis were conducted in three stages: the pre-COVID-19 period (first stage) from 2018 to 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic period (second stage) from 2020 to 2022, and the post-COVID-19 period (third stage) from 2023 onwards. News articles were collected using the Big Kinds system based on the National Basic Plan, starting from the ‘Third National Basic Plan’ in 2018. The results of the text mining analysis revealed that interest in volunteering was highest during the third period, followed by the first and second periods. Comparing the number of articles across the three periods, the second period had the fewest articles. This decrease is attributed to the reduction in volunteer activities due to social distancing measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, which consequently led to a decline in interest in volunteering. Additionally, the increase in the number of articles during the third period can be explained by the resurgence of international volunteer activities and the continuous occurrence of disaster relief volunteer activities. Secondly, according to the TF-IDF analysis, the top 5 keywords in news articles about volunteer activities for each period were as follows: During the first period, the most frequent words were ‘damage’, ‘typhoon’, ‘rally’, and ‘recovery’, ‘safety’. In the second period, the frequent words included ‘recovery’, ‘damage’, ‘typhoon’, ‘forest fires’, and ‘COVID-19’. In the third period, the frequent words were ‘recovery’, ‘damage’, ‘Turkye’, ‘forest fires’, and ‘flood damage’. Lastly, based on the results of the study, we proposed a plan to revitalize volunteerism, including practical and policy directions in comparison with social issues in each period.
