국문 초록

Discourse is a complete form of linguistic expression, usually consisting of multiple sentences. The sentences in discourse are not randomly arranged, but rather require semantic coherence and orderly structural connections. Guided by Halliday and Hasan’s cohesion theory, this paper compares two Chinese translations of selected passages from Miguel Street and Jane Eyre, exploring the similarities and differences in grammatical and lexical cohesion devices between English and Chinese. These findings are then applied to the translation of fiction, constructing a coherent network for the translated text. Ultimately, the study aims to present an optimized translation guided by cohesion theory, offering insights for enhancing the quality of the translation of English novels.

영문 초록

语篇是一种完整的话语表达形式，通常由多个句子组成。语篇的句子并非随意排列，而是要求在语义上连贯，结构上衔接有序。本文以Halliday 和Hasan 的衔接理论为指导，通过对比《米格尔街》和《简·爱》两部作品选段的两个汉语译本，探讨英汉两种语言在语法衔接和词汇衔接手段上的异同，并将其应用于小说翻译，构建译文的连贯网络，最终得出在衔接理论指导下的最优化译文，为提升英文小说译文质量提供一些借鉴。
