문학작품을 통한 동서양의 풍수지리에 관한 비교연구 - 『興夫傳』과 『큰 바위 얼굴』을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 19세기 판소리계 소설 『興夫傳』과 미국 작가 호손의 『큰 바위 얼굴』에 나타난 풍수 이론을 살펴봄으로써 풍수에 대한 동서양의 인식과 시대적 배경의 연관성을 연구하였다. 비록 허구의 문학작품이라 하더라도 그 작품에는 작가가 표현하고자 하는 현실의 삶이 반영되며, 훌륭한 작품은 누가 읽거나 들어도 공감할 수 있을 때 세대와 세계를 뛰어넘어 전승된다. 판소리계 소설 『흥부전』은 양택에 중점을 두었으며, ‘집터 선정’에 활용된 향법은 정음정양법으로 송대 辜託長老의 저서 『入地眼全書』에서 언급한 향법으로 納甲을 기준으로 해서 고안하였으며 朝鮮初에 무학대사가 이 향법을 사용하였다. 또한 ‘집 짓기’의 좌향은 중국의 양택이론을 따르기 보다는 지역적 특징과 지형 지세를 고려하여 결정하였다. 풍수가 서양에 최초로 전해진 것은 1863년경으로 당시 그들은 미개하고 저급한 악습이라 비판 하였다. 그러나 미국소설 『큰 바위 얼굴』은 좋은 터의 조건과 감응, 물형론 등의 풍수 이론이 포함되어 있으며, 이것은 19세기 혼란의 미국 사회가 간절히 원하는 지도자의 탄생을 큰 바위 얼굴의 산으로 擬人化한 것이다. 풍수는 20세기 후반부에 이르러 동아시아를 넘어 세계 여러 나라에서 도시와 건축물의 가치향상과 의사결정, 실내 풍수를 중심으로 수요가 증가하고 있다. 또한, 문학과 영화 등에 소재로 활용되고 있다.

영문 초록

This study studied the relationship between Eastern and Western perceptions of feng shui and the historical background by examining the feng shui theory shown in the 19th century Pansori novel Hongjeon and the American writer Hawthorne's Big Rock Face. Even if it is a fictional literary work, it reflects the real life that the author wants to express, and a great work is passed down across generations and the world when anyone who reads or listens to it can sympathize with it. The Pansori novel Heungbujeon focuses on good housing, and the fragrance method used for 'selection of a house site' is the Jeong Eum Jeong Yang method, which is the fragrance method mentioned in the book 『入地眼全全書』 by the Song Dynasty elder, and is based on the pure scent. It was invented and this incense method was used by Master Muhak in the early days of the Joseon Dynasty. In addition, the left direction of 'building a house' was decided by considering regional characteristics and topography rather than following China's theory of choice. Feng Shui was first introduced to the West around 1863, and at the time, it was criticized as an uncivilized and low-class evil practice. However, the American novel Big Rock Face a includes Feng Shui theories such as the conditions of a good site, tolerance, and material theory, which transformed the birth of a leader desperately desired by the 19th century chaotic American society into a mountain with a large rock face. will be. In the latter half of the 20th century, demand for feng shui is increasing in many countries around the world beyond East Asia, focusing on improving the value of cities and buildings, decision-making, and indoor feng shui.
