국문 초록

기독교 다음 세대에 대한 위기는 교역자와 교사의 사명감 및 전문성, 교육철학의 부재, 교육 방법과 프로그램 문제, 교육 환경의 부족이라는 교회 내적 요인과 탈 교회, 학령 인구 감소, 코로나19라는 외적 요인이 있다. 그러나 가장 큰 요인은 다음 세대들이 교회 안에서 주체가 아닌 객체가 되었기 때문이다. 기독교 다음 세대의 위기를 해결하기 위해서는 기술 친화적이고, 참여적이며, 적극적인 특징을 지닌 다음 세대의 목소리를 듣고 소통하며, 신앙의 주체로 세울 수 있어야 한다. 다음 세대를 신앙의 주체로 세우는 역사적 유산이 18세기 영국의 로버트 레이크스(Robert Raikes)가 시작한 주일학교이다. 주일학교는 소외된 인간 하나, 하나를 삶과 신앙의 주체로 세우는 것에서 출발했지만 주일학교가 교회학교로 전환이 되면서 학문 중심, 학교식 교육 프로그램과 교재, 환경이 오히려 학생들을 객체화하고, 교육의 대상으로 만들었다. 그러므로 기독교 다음 세대를 ‘신앙의 주체’로 세워야 한다. 기독교 다음 세대를 신앙의 주체로 세운다는 것은 그들 또한 ‘하나님의 백성’이라는 것이다. 기독교 다음 세대도 하나님께 부름을 받고, 하나님의 백성으로 세움을 받으며, 세상으로 보냄을 받은 하나님의 백성이다. 그렇다면 그들은 하나님을 예배하는 주체적인 예배자가 되며, 스스로 하나님의 말씀을 깨달을 수 있으며, 세상에서 하나님의 백성으로 살아갈 수 있다. 이것이 기독교 다음 세대를 신앙의 주체로 세우는 것이다. 그리고 교사는 다음세대들이 신앙의 주체로 세워질 수 있도록 그들과 함께 순례하며, 산파와 돕는 자의 역할을 한다. 기독교 교육의 위기 극복은 교회학교의 성장이 아닌 다음 세대를 하나님의 백성이라는 기독교 자아정체성을 갖도록 하여 신앙의 주체로 세우는 것이다.

영문 초록

The crisis for the next generation of Christianity is the internal factors of the church, such as the lack of mission, professionalism, and educational philosophy of pastors and teachers, the problem of educational methods and programs, and the lack of educational environment, and external factors such as de-church, school-age population decline, and COVID-19. But the biggest factor is that the next generation has become an object, not a subject, in the church. In order to solve the crisis of the next generation of Christianity, it is necessary to be able to listen to and communicate with the voices of the next generation with technology-friendly, participatory, and active characteristics, and to establish them as subjects of faith. The historical legacy of establishing the next generation as subjects of faith is the Sunday school started by Robert Lakes in England in the 18th century. Sunday school started from establishing each marginalized human being as the subject of life and faith, but as Sunday school was converted into a church school, the academic-centered, school-style educational programs, textbooks, and environment rather objectified students and made them objects of education. Therefore, the next generation of Christianity should be established as the subject of faith. To establish the next generation of Christianity as the subject of faith means that they are also ‘the people of God’. The next generation of Christianity are the people of God who have been called by God, who have been established as God’s people, and who have been sent to the world. Then they can become active worshippers of God, realize God’s word for themselves, and live as God’s people in the world. This is what establishes the next generation of Christianity as the subject of faith. And the teacher pilgrims with them so that the next generation can be established as subjects of faith, playing the role of midwives and helpers. Overcoming the crisis in Christian education is not about the growth of church schools, but about establishing the next generation as subjects of faith by having a Christian self-identity as the people of God.
