국문 초록

박경리의 산문집(『원주통신-꿈꾸는 자가 창조한다』(1994), 『신(新)원주통신-가설을 위한 망상』(2007), 『생명의 아픔』(2004))은 박경리 문학의 골자인 생명사상의 여성적 토대를 보여주는 글이다. 그것은 일상에 대한 소박한 체험과 관찰로 치부할 수 없는 자기서사(회고록)이자, 저자가 문명비평가이자 환경운동가로서의 정체성을 획득해 갔던 말년의 양식이었다. 박경리는 산문이라는 자유롭고 느슨한 형식을 통해 허무와 비관을 고백하는 한편으로 이러한 절망의식을 넘어설 수 있는 문명의 가치로서 ‘생명’과 ‘돌봄’을 발견했다. 그것은 ‘센티멘탈리즘’으로 치부할 수 없는 것으로 지속되는 고통의 기억, 생명에 대한 연민, 힘의 논리로 점철되었던 20세기 역사에 대한 체험적 앎과 비판적 해부를 통해 움켜 쥔 깨달음이었다. 특히 동물은 생명의 본질인 취약성에 주목함으로써 자연과의 공생과 돌봄을 인간의 보편 윤리로 천명하고 인간중심적 개발에 맞서는 문화와 미적 상상력 그리고 실천 운동의 가치를 확신하는 데 결정적인 영향을 미친 존재였다는 점에서 자세히 고찰을 필요로 한다.

영문 초록

Park Kyung-ri's collection of prose (1994), “Wonju News Agency-The Dreamer Create,” “New Wonju News Agency-The Delusion for Hypothesis” (2007), and “The Pain of Life”(2004) are articles that show the feminine foundation of the idea of life, which is the main point of Park Kyung-ri's literature. It is a self-narrative that cannot be dismissed as a simple experience and observation of daily life, and a style of the late years when the author acquired his identity as a civilization critic and environmental activist. Park Kyung-ri confessed her emptiness and pessimism through the free and loose form of prose, while discovering “Life” and “Care” as values of civilization that could overcome this sense of despair. It was an enlightenment gripped by experiential knowledge and critical dissection of the 20th century history, which was dominated by memories of pain that persisted that could not be dismissed as “centimentism,” compassion for life, and logic of power. In particular, animals need to be carefully considered in that they were decisive beings in proclaiming symbiosis and care with nature as human universal ethics by paying attention to vulnerability, the essence of life, and convinced of the value of culture, aesthetic imagination, and practical movement against human-centered development.
