국문 초록

본 연구는 아버지의 장애에 대한 태도, 가족신념과 양육참여의 관계를 분석하여 장애아동 아버지의 양육참여를 증진시키기 위한 기초자료를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 조사대상은 서울․경기지역의 발달장애아동 아버지로 하였다. 본 연구의 조사결과, 아버지의 양육참여에는 가족에 대한 신념이 가장 많은 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 장애에 대한 태도와 가족신념이 아버지의 양육참여를 매개하는 주요 변인으로 나타났다. 즉, 아버지가 자녀의 장애에 대한 태도를 긍정적으로 하게 되면 가족신념이 높아지고, 이러한 아버지의 경우 양육참여를 적극적으로 하고 있음을 발견하였다. 따라서 장애아동 아버지의 양육참여를 증진시키기 위해서 장애태도개선 프로그램이나 가족신념 강화를 위한 가족결속력 프로그램 등의 아버지 특성에 맞는 다양한 프로그램이 요구된다. 이를 통해 장애아동에 대한 정확한 이해와 태도의 증진을 바탕으로 장애자녀의 양육에 대한 가족의 도전이 긍정적인 경험으로 연결되어 아버지의 양육참여를 적극적으로 수행할 수 있도록 해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of fathers' attitudes toward disability and family beliefs on participation for fathers with disabled children, providing grounds to promote the belief that more fathers ought to engage in child rearing. The subjects of the study are confined to fathers with disabled children who live in Seoul and the Gyeong-gi metropolitan area. The study shows that family beliefs have the most influence on fathers' participation in raising their children. The fathers' attitudes toward disability and family beliefs are proven to be the major variables to determine the level of fathers' child care participation. In other words, the fathers' attitudes toward the disabilities of their children were positively correlated with their family beliefs, helping fathers to actively engage in nurturing. As the results of this study show, a variety of programs for fathers with disabled children are needed; for example, programs for disability awareness enhancement or family cohesion, in order to increase fathers' involvement in raising their handicapped children, are necessary. These programs would improve the understanding and parenting attitude of fathers by turning this challenge, child nurturing, into more of a positive, learning experience, thus inducing fathers' active engagement in raising their children.
