영문 초록

Asian Film Academy (AFA) is an academic program for asians to share the result of a huge success of Korean cinema. The AFA program consists of film education and production aimed at contributing to the continuous growing of Asian cinema. AFA is also a part of program to keep the promise to be reborn as a productive film festival and become a hub of asian film industry. It is meant for PIFF to take next level and face new challenge with other asian nations not only for the future of Asian cinema but also for the cinema as a whole. AFA has been launched with a main goal of contributing for continuously growing asian cinema. This means that AFA will not be end as one-time event. AFA brings together young, prospective filmmakers in Asia and provides them with an opportunity for networking through filmmaking. Competent filmmakers in Asia, who have been introduced through or have close relationship with Pusan International Film Festival give guidance and coaching to the prospective Asian filmmakers for preparing them for the future of asian cinema. Young and talented future filmmakers from all around Asia participated in AFA. Unlike other existing workshops, AFA is not only for experienced filmmakers but also for many asians who have not had any chances to get proper film educations to discover his or her cinematic potentials. Even after the workshop was finished, AFA will continue to help participants persist in filmmaking as well as to establish network for them. AFA must keep expending its boundaries for young and talented Asian future filmmakers to set the broader collaborative networks.
