영문 초록

In this study, an online survey was conducted targeting 1,000 the public and 200 for- estry/forestry industry and industry experts to derive key elements necessary for the transition to a domestic forest-based bioeconomy. Only 10% of respondents responded that they were fa- miliar with the bioeconomy, and words with high relevance and importance to the forest-based bioeconomy included carbon neutrality, circular use of resources, and ecosystem service linked to the main functions of forests. The positive effect of transitioning to the bioeconomy was the realization of carbon neutrality at 33%, and the negative factor was the lack of domestic forest resources at 28%. The most important factors required for transitioning to a bioeconomy were support policies from government and public institutions and demand creation (34%), followed by improved public awareness (23%) and new product development and technological in- novation (14%). Forest-based biomaterial products responded that they would increase in the fu- ture (59%). Respondents responded that they were willing to pay an average of 20% more in additional costs to choose a bioproduct compared to existing products. As a result of the sur- vey, awareness of the bioeconomy is currently at a low level, but it is expected that there is high potential for development in the future. It is believed that initial government-led invest- ment should be made first to establish a forest bioeconomy foundation, and that concerns about resource consumption and environmental impact due to conversion should be resolved and con- sumer demands should be satisfied through technological innovation.
