국문 초록

어떠한 사물이 완성되기까지는 기하학(geometry, 幾何學)적 요소를 바탕으로 한 일련의 구상과정을 거치는데, 이때 우리는 본능적으로 ‘아름다움’을 추구하게 된다. 즉, 사물의 본질로직결되는 점, 선, 면의 기하학적 요소가 고대부터 계속적으로 예술분야에 출현한 이유는 이러한 ‘아름다움’을 기하학적 요소에서 발견했기 때문이라고 설명할 수 있을 것이다. 본 논문은 기하학의 이론적 배경을 정립하고, 이를 시각적으로 표현한 작품 사례들을 관련 문헌 자료를 통해 살펴보면서 기하학이 조형 요소로써 갖는 의미를 고찰해보고자 한다. 더불어‘기하학적 유닛(Unit)의 결합(結合)’으로 표현한 본 연구자의 작품과 기존 작품들과의 유사성 및차별성을 살펴보고, 단위체가 상호 결합함으로써 얻어지는 효과에 대해 고찰하는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 20세기 초 큐비스트들은 대상의 구체적인 재현을 거부하고 선과 도형의 구조적인 요소를순수한 형태 언어로서 사상을 표현하였다. 즉, 기하학적인 요소로부터 ‘미(美)’적인 만족감을얻었으며, 이를 통해 내면의 본질에 다가가는 근원성을 표현하였는데 이러한 점에서 본 연구자의 작품과 유사성이 있음을 발견할 수 있었다. 기하학적 유닛의 결합이 갖는 차별성은 각 개체의 유닛에 내재된 정적 에너지가 상호 결합되는 구조를 통해 동적 에너지로의 전환이 이루어지면서, 정(靜)과 동(動)의 이미지가 병립하게 된다는 점이다. 또한, 제 3자의 참여로 인해 형태적인 변환을 가능케 하여 작품의 일방적인 수용에서 벗어난 쌍방향의 소통 구조를 형성시킨다. 이러한 기하학적 요소를 바탕으로 한 작품 사례들을 통하여 기하학적 도형에 내재된 미적인 조형성과 활용성에 대해 고찰하고자 하며, 나아가 도자(陶瓷)를 조형하는 방식에 있어 그 가능성이 확장될 수 있기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

Until an object is completed, it undergoes a series of conceptual processes based on geometry, in which we instinctively pursue beauty . In other words, it can be explained that the geometrical elements of points, lines, and faces directly connected to the essence of objects have continued to appear in the field of art since ancient times because these beauty are found in geometric elements. In this paper, we set up the theoretical background of geometry, and examine the meaning of geometry as a formative element by examining the visual examples of the works with related literature data. The purpose of this study is to examine the similarities and differences between the works of this researcher expressed by the combination of geometric units and the existing works. Also, we will investigate the effect obtained by mutual bonding of units. In the early 20th century, the Cubists rejected the detailed reproduction of an object and expressed the idea by using the structural elements of the line and the figure as the pure form language. In other words, they obtained beauty satisfaction from the geometric elements and expressed the originality of approaching the inner nature through this, and it was found that there is a similarity with the work of this researcher in this respect. The difference in the connection of geometric units is that the static energy inherent in each unit is mutually coupled and turned to dynamic energy, so the images of static and dynamic are linked together. Besides, it enables morphological transformation through the participation of third parties, thus forming a two-way communication structure deviating from unilateral acceptance of the work. Through the examples of works based on these geometric elements, we will examine the aesthetic formability and usability inherent in the geometrical shapes, and we hope that the possibilities in the form of ceramics can be expanded.
