연구개발과 특허가 생산성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 기술축적의 대표적인 투입요소인 연구개발투자와 그 산출물인 특허데이터를 이용해 한국 제조업을 대상으로 산업의 기술수준을 측정하고, 이를 산업 생산성과 함께 분석하여 산업수준에서 기술의 영향력을 분석하였다. 특허데이터를 중심으로 산업 및 경제 데이터와의 융합 및 이를간의 관계를 분석하므로써 기술의 축적이 성장에 미치는 영향을 실증분석하였다. 분석결과 연구개발투자는 현재의 투자와 누적적 투자 모두 지식 산출에 유의한 양의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. R&D투자와 R&D스톡을 함께 고려하면 R&D스톡의 유의성은 떨어지지만 둘 다 특허라는 지식의 축적에 유의한 양의 영향을 미친다. 그리고, 지식의 투입요소인 연구개발투자의 증가는 생산성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치지 못하지만 그 산출물인 특허의 경우 생산성증가에 유의한 양의 영향을 미치고 있다. 즉 산업의 생산성 향상을 위해서는 지식의 축적이 필요한데 연구개발 자체보다는 특허와 같은 실질적인 산출물이 생산성의 증가를 가져오는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

In this paper the R&D investment, which is a input element of technology accumulation, and patent which are outputs, were used to measure the technology level of the industry for the Korean manufacturing industry, and analyze this along with the productivity of the industry to analyze the effect of technology at the industrial level. Focusing on patent data, the effect of technology accumulation on growth was empirically analyzed by analyzing the convergence of industrial and economic data and the relationship between them. As a result of the analysis, it was found that R&D investment has a significant positive effect on knowledge output, both current investment and cumulative investment. If R&D investment and R&D stock are considered together, the significance of R&D stock decreases, but both have a positive effect on the accumulation of knowledge of patents. In addition, the increase in R&D investment, which is an input factor of knowledge, does not have a positive effect on productivity, but in the case of patents, the output, has a significant positive effect on the increase in productivity. In other words, it is necessary to accumulate knowledge to improve industrial productivity, but it was found that practical outputs such as patents rather than R&D itself result in an increase in productivity.
