영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to identify the educational intrinsic values of the ‘Fostering Companion Animal’ lesson in Practical Arts subject. For the purpose, this study investigated ① the relationship between the child-companion interaction and humane education which is an teaching approach to foster in young people a functional ethic embodying a balanced sensitivity for all living creature, animal as well as people, ② the relationship between the child-companion interaction and the naturalist intelligence of Gardner(1999) which could be found in naturalist demonstrating expertise in the recognition and classification of the numerous species of his or her environment, and ③ the relationship between the child-companion interaction and child development which includes socio-emotional development and cognitive development. From the investigations, this study found the evidence of the untransferable educational value of the ‘Fostering Companion Animal’ lesson as one lesson of Practical Arts subject and as core learning experiences for children.
