영문 초록

fi Hunminjeongeum.J] contains various informations on the origin and principle of Hangeul. It asserrs, for example, that Hangeul was created in accordance with the principle of Yin - Yang and Five Elements. But it makes no sense. That was an apology for the invention of Hangeul, which is completely different from αlinese characters. For the Neo • confucian scholS at that times, difference with the Chinese was unbearable barbarianism. u Hunminjeongeum~ emphasizes rhat Korean alphabet is simple, easy to learn‘ rHunminíeongeum~ claims that having our own alphabet is nattural, does not γÍolate Chinεsε world order‘ i Hunminjeongeum~ also claims that letters of the Korean alphabet was made in harmony with main concepts of Chinese phílosophy. But such exposition was unnecessary. For the invεntion of alphabεt， abstraction from concrete meaning was essential. The Greek alphabet “a has Phoεnician origin with concrete meaning. But this 잉 quite insignificant. Origins and principles of Hangeul are insignificant too. But some parts of them such as graphic depiction of articulatory - acoustic correlates make good sense and greatly significant.
