국문 초록

본고는 로잔의 개혁신학자 윌리엄 부카누스(†1603)의 신학강요에 나타난 신학의 인식원리인 성경론을 다룬다. 그에게 있어서 계시와 성경으로 말미암은 하나님을 아는 지식은 어거스틴의 삼위일체론 전통을 따라 삼위일체적 구조에 연관된다. 어거스틴의 삼위일체론을 구성하는 세가지 구조 - 본질에 따른 하나님의 존재와 속성, 상호관계에 따른 위격들 그리고 피조세계에 관련한 삼위일체의 역사 - 에서 첫번째 구조와 두번째 구조는 신론에 해당하고, 세번째 구조가 하나님의 경륜 아래 하나님의 자기계시를 포괄한다. 삼위일체의 존재와 역사경륜을 종합적으로 이해하는 관점 이다. 삼위일체의 외부를 향한 모든 역사는 분리되지 않는다. 어거스틴 전통의 이러한 삼위일체의 통일적 경륜이 부카누스 신학의 방법론적 틀을 제공하고 있다. 따라서 그의 신학원리와 신학체계 전반은 삼위일체 하나님과 분리될 수 없는 신중심적 총체다.부카누스의 신학 인식원리에 있어서 성경은 참된 저자이신 하나님과 나누어 생각할 수 없다. 성경계시의 형성에서 해석과 적용에 이르 기까지 신중심적(theocentric)이다. 성경의 영감에 있어서 “dictata(받아쓰기)” 개념을 도입하고, 성경의 유효적 저자로서 성령과 인간 기록자들을 구분하며, 성경진리의 참되고 최종적인 증거자로서 성령을 강조한다. 성경자체의 가신성과 신구약 성경의 통일성이 하나요 같은 저자이신 삼위 하나님의 통일적 경륜에 근거한다. 17세기 말 개혁신학의 침체와 더불어 18세기 과학적 실증학문의 사상적 거대조류는 신학함에 있어서도 많은 영향을 끼쳤다. 그중 가장 치명적인 것은 성경에서 성경의 참된 저자로서의 하나님을 분리하 고, 성경의 신적 기원에 대해 물음으로 남겨두는 것이다. 부카누스의 신학원리에 비추어 보면 이것은 신학 자체의 본질과 목적에 맞지 않는다. 우리 시대 개혁신학의 사명은 교회와 학문으로써 신학에서 ‘하 나님’과 그의 ‘말씀’인 성경을 바르게 회복하는 일이다. 부카누스의 신학 원리는 이러한 면에서 큰 의미를 지닌다.

영문 초록

This article probes Guilielmus Bucanus (†1603)’s doctrine of Scripture as principium cognitionis, the cognitive principle of theology as it is laid down in his Institutiones Theologicae. In Bucanus theology the knowledge of God founded on revelation and Scripture is related to the trinitarian structure in the tradition of Augustine. In Augustine’s theology, it can be shown that there are three structures: the existence and attributes of God, persons in their mutual relationship, and the history of the Trinity in its relation to creation. Among these, the first and the second structures correspond to the doctrine of God and the third entails self-revelation of God in accordance with his economy. Augustine understands the very existence of the Trinity and His historical economy in a synthetic manner. The works of the Trinity are not divided in themselves (opera Trinitatis ad extra sunt indivisa). The unitive works of the Trinity in the tradition of Augustine provides a necessary framework for the theology of Bucanus. Thus his principle and system of theology in general is a comprehensive totality indivisible from the triune God Himself. In Bucanus’ principle of theology Scripture can never be separated from God its true author. From the formation of revelation of Scripture to its interpretation and application the principle is thoroughly theocentric. Not only dictata - inspiration is adopted in his understanding of biblical inspiration, also a distinction is introduced between the Holy Spirit as the effective author of Scripture and its human authors. The Holy Spirit receives a special attention as a true and final witness of Scripture. The trustworthiness of Scripture and the unity of the Old and New Testaments are established on the basis of the unitive economy of the truine God, the one and same author. A downfall of the late 17th century Reformed theology and the rise of scientific study in the 18th century has left a strong impact on theology. One of the most serious damage was seen in the reality that God as the author of Scripture is separated from the Scripture itself and thus a question was raised regarding the divine origin of Scripture. According to the cognitive principle of Bucanus’ theology this kind of scepticism cannot be substantiated with the essence and the purpose of theology itself. It is the task of Reformed theology in our times to rightly restore ‘God’ and the Scripture as His ‘Word’ in our practice of theology.
