국문 초록

모성이데올로기란 엄마와 아이의 이해를 대립적으로 놓고, 그 둘의 대립적 성격을 주조한 사회문화적 조건에는 눈감은 채, 엄마의 이해를 희생해야 한다고 믿도록 하는 것이다. 자본주의적 생산성을 각인한 경쟁사회에서의 여성들은 자신이 축적한 자본주의적 생산성을 아이를 위해 포기함으로써 모성이데올로기를 실천하며 동시에 자본주의적 생산성을 대체할 '모성적 생산성'을 발휘하게 된다. 자본주의적 생산성이 전제하는 생산/재생산의 이분법은 남/녀, 공/사 등의 근대적 이분법으로 변주, 확장되면서 남성을 가정으로부터, 여성을 사회로부터 소외 시킨다. 이러한 기획은 여성들을 위한 평생교육-학습의 내용을 자녀와 가정을 위한 것으로 제한해 모성적 생산성을 극대화 하는 데 일조한 측면이 있다. 본 논문은 평생교육-학습의 장이, 언급한 이분법적 도식을 해체하는 방식으로 사유하고 실천하지 않으면 여성들은 여전히 모성이데올로기를 강화하며 자녀사교육 등을 통하여 모성적 생산성을 극대화 할 것이라고 판단한다. 이러한 맥락에서 평생교육장 안에서 모성의 재생산 노동을 생산 노동화 하는 가치체계의 변혁에 대한 진지한 논의가 필요한 것은 아닌지, 그렇게 함으로써 언급한 이분법을 해체하고 소외가 아닌 인류의 지속가능성을 구축하는 평생교육-학습의 지향점이 모색되어야 하는 것은 아닌지 제안한다.

영문 초록

"Motherhood" as an ideology makes people believe that the interests of mother and child are competitive and the interest of mother should be sacrificed for the sake of that of her child, ignoring the sociocultural plot which has structured the competitive relations of the interests of mother-child. Women who have embodied the value of capitalistic productivity through modern education and systems are faced with a phase, upon marriage and childbirth, which forces her to adopt "motherly productivity" instead of capitalistic productivity. In result, women have come to produce and reproduce the ideology of motherhood. The capitalistic productivity is based upon the binary concept of modernity, which has been isolating men from home, women from society. This tends to limit women participating in lifelong education to selecting programs that would maximize their motherly productivity. This study suggests that lifelong education and learning de-construct the binary concept of men/women, private/public, productivity/reproductivity to encourage women and men to re/conceptualize the "caring labor" as productivity in a true sense for the sake of sustainablity of human beings.
