대학졸업생 취업여부에 대한 영향요인 탐색

국문 초록

대학 졸업생 취업에 관한 개인적ㆍ사회적 관심은 점차 고조되고 있다. 본 연구는 대학 졸업생의 취업에 영향을 미치는 요인 탐색을 목적으로 대학 내ㆍ외에서 이루어지는 교육경험과 대학 별로 차별화되는 교육의 질을 중심으로 진행하였다. 본 연구의 목적을 실증적으로 밝히기 위해 한국교육고용패널(KEEP)의 6차년도 자료와 대학알리미 2009년도 자료를 이용하여 분석하였고, 종속변수가 ‘대학졸업생 취업여부’로 이분변수인 관계로 이항 로지스틱 회귀분석을 활용하였다. 대학생 취업여부에 영향을 미치는 대학 내ㆍ외 요인들에 대한 탐색결과 대학생의 취업여부에 영향을 미치는 것은 ‘성별’, ‘전공’과 같은 개인요인과 대학 내 요인 중 ‘강의내용의 체계성’, ‘교내 장학인턴십 참여여부’가 통계적으로 유의미만 영향을 미치는 변수로 나타났다. 이는 현재 많은 대학생들이 대학 외에서 경험하는 ‘영어교육’, ‘취업훈련’, ‘어학연수’ 등의 취업준비활동이 대학 졸업생 취업에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것을 의미한다. 이결과는 위에서 언급안 대학 내 교육경험들이 대학 졸업생 취업에 유의미만 영향을 미치는 것과 상반된 결과를 보인다. 다시 말해, 결국 대학 내에서 이루어지는 여러 가지 교육경험이 대학 외 경험들과 비교하여 단기적으로는 취업과 직접적인 관련이 없는 것으로 보일 수도 있으나, 장기적으로는 유의미한 영향을 미친다는 것을 의미한다. 또한 본 연구결과는 학생의 개인적 특성과 대학 내 교육의 질이 대학졸업생 취업률 제고에 고려되어야 한다는 것을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine factors related to university graduates' employment with specific attention paid to the extent to which universities varied in their contribution to quality of education and what specific experiences both inside and outside the university related to graduates' employment. For this aims, this study used both a national sample from the Korean Education and Employment Panel data(KEEP) and university data collected via the Center for Higher Education Institution Information Disclosure. The nature of our dependent variables, which is binary, and the structure of data require us to merge them and to employ such statistic tools as a logistic regression analysis. This study found that university graduates's employment were influenced by both personal characteristics such as 'gender' and 'major' and educational experiences inside the university including 'quality of teaching' and 'job experiences as a scholarship student' and various of work experiences inside the university. Contrary to expectations, institutional differences among universities and other experiences outside the university such as 'taking private courses for either studying English or getting a job' and 'going abroad to learn foreign languages' didn't tended to effect on graduates' employment. These apparently conflicting results between this study and other precedent studies are indicative of the need to reconsider more expanded indicators and indirect effects. The results suggest that personal characteristics of students and quality of education inside the university should be considered to raise the rate of employments. This paper discussed some practical implications for higher education institutions as well as future research.
