대도시-농어촌 지역 청소년의 인터넷 중독 관련 변인에 대한 비교 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 상이한 지역환경, 즉 대도시인 대구광역시와 경북의 농어촌 지역에 거주하는 청소년의 인터넷 중독에 영향을 미치는 생태체계 변인들을 비교분석하면서, 지역별로 그들의 인터넷 중독에 영향을 미치는 관련 변인들의 유형이 어떻게 상이한지, 그리고 그 관련 변인들의 영향력은 얼마나 차이 나는지를 규명하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해서, 이 연구는 생태체계적 관점에서 청소년들의 실제 생활환경을 고려하여, 생태체계를 개인인구학적 체계, 개인심리 체계, 가족 체계, 인터넷환경 체계, 교육환경 체계 등으로 세분화하여, 각 체계에 해당하는 하위 독립변인들의 영향력을 분석하였다. 자료 분석의 결과에 따르면, 첫째, 대구광역시에 비해 경북 농어촌 지역 청소년의 인터넷 중독 수준이 높게 나타나고 있다. 둘째, 두 지역 모두에서 남학생이 여학생보다 인터넷 중독 수준이 높은 것으로 나타나고 있다. 연령에 의한 영향력 차이는 대구광역시 청소년의 경우에만 연령이 높을수록 인터넷 중독의 수준이 낮은 것으로 나타나고 있다. 셋째, 두 지역 청소년들 간의 인터넷 중독에 영향을 미치는 생태체계의 하위 체계들 간의 상대적 영향력을 비교분석한 위계적 다중회귀분석의 결과에 의하면, 인터넷 중독에 가장 영향을 미치는 하위체계는 대구광역시 청소년의 경우에는 교육환경 체계이며, 경북 농어촌 청소년의 경우에는 인터넷환경 체계였다. 넷째, 생태체계에 속하는 전체 독립변인들 중에서 종속변인에 가장 유의한 영향력을 가지는 개별 독립변인은, 대구광역시 청소년의 경우에는 과외학습 및 여가활동환경 변인이었으며, 그 다음이 인터넷 사용시간 변인이었으며, 경북 농어촌 청소년의 경우에는 인터넷 사용시간 변인이 가장 설명력 있는 독립변인이었으며, 그 다음이 자기통제력 변인이었다. 분석결과에서 청소년의 거주지역에 따라 인터넷 중독에 영향을 미치는 상이한 하위 생태체계와 변인을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 청소년의 거주지역에 따라 차별화된 정책과 프로그램이 제시되어야만 그들의 인터넷 중독을 효과적으로 예방하고 방지할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This research aims to comparatively analyze the ecological variables affecting the internet addiction tendency of adolescents residing in a metropolitan area (Daegu) and a ruralarea (Gyeongbuk), and to empirically examine the relative importance of each sub-system and variable under the ecological system inthetwoareas. I explore five ecological sub-systems in this study with fifteen ecological independent variables among them; individual-demographic, individual-psychological, family, internet environment, and educational-environment sub-systems. The major results of this research are as follows. First, the adolescents in the rural area show a higher tendency of internet addiction than those in metropolitan area as a whole. Second, male students show higher rates ofinternet addiction than female students in both areas. Third, the most significant factors in the ecological system explaining the internet addiction tendency of adolescents was the educational-environment sub-system in the metropolitan area and the internet-environment sub-system in the rural area. Fourth, the most effective variable in explaining the internet addiction tendency of adolescents was extracurricular and leisure activities and adolescents' internet usage time in metropolitan area, and adolescents' internet usage time and self-control in rural area. The results of this research suggest developing different policies and programs by residence for adolescents’ internet addiction prevention.
