영문 초록

The paper discusses Yosakoi festivals which are held in Japan. These festivals have placed significant roles in community development (Machizukuri). Furthermore, the strategies of Yasakoi festivals have been utilized to advance community development. Compared with other Japanese festivals, Yasakoi festivals have more characteristics, which are similar to the strategies and approaches of Machizukuri. In the context of increasing urbanization and modernization in Japan, the festivals allowed local residents to restore their human interaction and communication within their neighborhood. To conclude, Machizukuri has a connection with Yasakoi festivals because they share a common goal of community development and restoration of residents’ identities.
