국문 초록

미술해석 방법론에 있어 바사리는 미술가 개인의 인격적 특성에 집중했으며, 빙켈만은 양식과 기후 등 여러 가지 요인들을 바탕으로 학문적 의미에서의 미술비평을 개척했다. 뵐플린은 양식사적 분석을 통해 르네상스와 바로크 작품을 다섯가지 개념쌍으로 분석했다면 파노프스키는 작품 속의 상징과 내재적 의미에 집중하였다. 그는 미술작품을 이해하기 위해 도상해석학이라는 방법론을 제시했으며 이는 3가지의 해석단계로 분리되지 않고 과정으로 이어진다. 전도상학적 단계에서는 사실과 표현이 있는 그대로의 일차적인 형식적 분석을 두 번째 도상학적 단계에서는 특정 태마나 개념에 관하여 작품이 일치하는지 확인하는 단계이며, 마지막 도상해석학적 단계에서는 종합적 단계이다. 이는 작품의 내적 의미를 찾아내고 작품이 가지고 있는 한시대의 지배적 문화양식, 특정 미술가의 양식까지 담고 있는 예술적 형성물로 더 나아가 문화적 징후까지 알아 낼 수 있는 것이다.

영문 초록

In the history of interpretation of paintings, while Vasari focused on the painters' personalities, Winckelmann developed the painting-interpretation into a human science, by analyzing some elements such as styles and weather. Furthermore, W?lfflin analyzed the paintings of Renaissance and Baroque periods through the analysis of styles, Panofsky focused on the symbols and intrinsic meanings in the paintings. According to Panofsky, there are three subject matters or meaning strata in the art works. The pre-iconographyl step as the first stratum of meanings focuses on primary or natural subject matter. The most basic level of understanding, this stratum consists of perception of the work's pure form. The second stratum is iconographical step focusing on secondary or conventional subject matter. This stratum brings to the equation cultural and iconography knowledge. The last step is the iconology interpreting the intrinsic meaning or content. This level takes into account personal, technical, and cultural history into the understanding of a work. It looks at art not as an isolated incident, but as the product of a historical environment.
