영문 초록

This paper investigates the development of a simulation model and its application to autonomous English learning at the elementary school. An autonomous learning model using simulation was created and applied to a class of 38 students in the fifth grade to know how it helps them develop their confidence and interest in English Self-evaluation, teacher observation and informal interviews were employed to complement the results from the questionnaire conducted before and after the application of the model to the students. Results reveal that the model increased the students' interest in English and promoted their autonomous learning. On the basis of these findings it is suggested that autonomous learning through simulation need to be developed more actively as a creative way of overcoming restricted situations in English teaching in the elementary school.
