국문 초록

This study explored whether the mediating role of time spent online in the relationship between parental restrictive mediation and cyberbullying perpetration among upper-elementary school children differed by gender. Participants were 596 fifth- and sixth-grade students (291 boys, 48.8%) from elementary schools. Multigroup structural equation modeling was used to examine gender differences in the relationships of parental restrictive mediation, time spent online, and cyberbullying perpetration controlling for cyberbullying victimization. The results of this study were as follows. First, parental restrictive mediation did not directly predict cyberbullying perpetration for either boys or girls. Second, parental restrictive mediation significantly predicted time spent online for both boys (β = −.41, p < .001) and girls (β = −.37, p < .001), indicating that greater parental restriction was associated with less online activity. However, time spent online significantly predicted cyberbullying perpetration only among boys (β = .22, p < .001), suggesting that boys who spent more time online were more likely to engage in cyberbullying. Third, the indirect effect of parental restrictive mediation on cyberbullying perpetration via time spent online was significant only for boys (B = -.004, 95% CI = [-.004, -.001]). The findings indicate that parental restrictive mediation influences cyberbullying perpetration through time spent online, with notable gender differences.
