The Effects of 3D Motion Cognitive Rehabilitation Program on Activities of Daily Living, Self Efficacy and Quality of Life in Patients with Stroke

Purpose: This study investigated the effects of a 3D motion cognitive rehabilitation program on the activities of daily living (ADL), self-efficacy, and quality of life in patients with stroke. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest- osttest control group in 44 stroke patients hospitalized at a general hospital located in G Metropolitan City. The experimental group participated in a 3D motion cognitive rehabilitation program for 30 minutes per day, every day, for six weeks, while the control group received general occupational therapy. This study was conducted in the order of pre-survey, experimental treatment, and post-survey, from September 28 to November 18, 2022. The data collected were analyzed using the Shapiro-Willk, a x²-test, Fisher’s exact test, and an independent t-test via the SPSS WIN 27.0 program. Results: The results showed that the experimental group, which participated in the 3D motion-based rehabilitation program, showed statistically significant differences in self- efficacy (t=3.61, p=.001) and quality of life (t=5.00, p＜.001) compared with the control group, but not in ADL (t=1.97, p=.056). Conclusion: It is necessary to develop and utilize a 3D motion cognitive rehabilitation program and other virtual reality programs to effectively support patients with stroke.
