국문 초록

Purpose : This study aims to explore the perceptions of healthcare professionals, including nurses, doctors, PA (Physician Assistant) nurses, clinical pathologists, and nursing students, regarding the selection methods for PA nurses, the necessary qualifications for PA nurses, and the necessity of PA nurses. The goal is to provide foundational data for reaching consensus, standardization, or the creation of formal educational programs for the PA nurse system in the future. Method : This qualitative study investigates healthcare professionals' perceptions of PA nurses through content analysis. A total of 53 participants took part in the study from April 1 to April 30, 2024. Results : The findings indicate that PA nurses are highly needed to address the shortage of healthcare personnel. Despite the negative aspect that “the legal scope of duties and responsibilities is unclear, and nurses bear the responsibility when issues arise,” it is suggested that, if institutionalized, PA nurses could perform medical duties under legal protection, highlighting a positive aspect. Conclusion : Based on the results of this study, institutional support from the government and healthcare organizations for PA nurses is necessary. It is essential to develop a comprehensive support system, including education and qualification frameworks.
