열정의 결과변인에 관한 메타분석: 열정이원론 연구를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 조화열정, 강박열정과 그 결과에 대해 연구한 국내 논문들을 종합하기 위해, 메타분석을 통해 효과크기를 산출하고, 이어 조절변인에 따른 차이를 탐색하고자 하였다. 이에 따라 2008년부터 2024년까지 출판된 연구물 중 분석에 필요한 수치를 제공하는 218편에서 산출된 총 1,134개의 효과크기를 분석하였다. 국내 열정 관련 연구는 약 70%가 스포츠/예술 분야에 집중되어 있었고, 교육 및 직무 분야는 상대적으로 적었다. 메타분석 결과 첫째, 조화열정과 강박열정 모두 변인들과 통계적으로 유의한 상관을 보였으며 조화열정은 중간 이상, 강박열정은 중간 이하의 전체 효과크기를 보였다. 둘째, 두 열정은 공통적으로 인지, 정서, 대인관계, 수행 및 심리적 안녕감 차원의 변인들과 대부분 정적 관계를 보였고, 조화열정의 효과크기가 더 크게 나타났다. 셋째, 조절분석 결과, 출판 유형과 연구분야, 그리고 연령과 연구분야를 동시에 고려하는 경우 강박열정에서만 유의한 조절효과가 나타났다. 또한 일부 변인에 한해 강박열정은 스포츠/예술 분야에서 다른 연구 분야보다 더 높은 효과크기를 보여, 맥락에 따라 열정 유형의 작용 방식이 다를 수 있음이 확인되었다.

영문 초록

After synthesizing empirical studies on passion, this study examined how harmonious and obsessive passions are associated with their outcomes. Effect sizes were extracted from 218 Korean studies (conducted from 2008 to 2024), each reporting sufficient statistics for meta-analysis. Approximately 70% of students focused on sports and the arts, with fewer studies in educational and work domains. First, results indicated that both harmonious and obsessive passions were significantly and positively correlated with outcomes: harmonious passion demonstrated a moder ate-to-strong effect size, whereas obsessive passion demonstrated a small-to-moderate effect size. Second, both types were positively associated with cognitive, emotional, interpersonal, performance-related, and psychological well-being variables; harmonious passion generally had stronger associations. Finally, moderation analyses revealed that when publication type, age, and research domain were considered simultaneously, a significant moderation effect emerged only for obsessive passion. Specifically, obsessive passion yielded greater effect sizes in the sports and arts domain than in other domains, suggesting that passion’s function may vary by context.
