3~5세기 경기 남부지역 부장 전통의 변화와 백제화

국문 초록

본고는 기원후 3~5세기 경기 남부지역 고분 사회 부장 전통의 변화 양상과 그 의미 파악을 목적으로 한다. 이에 따라 고분 축조 집단의 정체성이 반영된 토기 부장 전통의 변화 양상을 파악하여 백제의 지방지배 전략에 따른 지역 사회 고분 축조 집단의 재편 과정을 추정하였다. 묘제에서 보이는 원삼국-한성기 경기 남부의 지역성은 축조 집단의 계통과 백제의 지방 편제 방식 등에 따라 다양했던 것으로 볼 수 있다. 분석은 4세기 중엽을 기점으로 Ⅰ기와 Ⅱ기의 토기 부장 조합에 대한 사회연결망 분석(Social Network Analysis, SNA)을 실시하여 부장 전통을 공유하는 공동체 네트워크를 파악하고 관계 변화를 검토하였다. 분석 결과, 경기 남부지역의 Ⅰ기 토기 부장 조합은 교통로상 결절지에 해당하는 서해안 집단의 경우 해안-내륙으로 이어지는 완, 이중구연호, 직구호 등 특징적인 부장 유물이 확인된다. 한편, 백제 중앙과의 연결성이 보이는 지역은 일찍이 직구호와 같은 한성중앙양식 토기가 부장된다. Ⅱ기 토기 부장 조합에서는 한성양식 토기의 전파가 주목된다. 한성기 백제와 연관성이 확인되는 부장 전통 공동체가 나타나며, Ⅱ기는 백제 중앙에 의해 새롭게 형성된 군포, 부천 지역의 경우 오산 수청동 및 안성천 유역과 함께 중앙과의 관계성을 갖는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 이를 통해 Ⅱ기 지방사회 재편 과정은 4가지 양상으로 정리되는데 1) 기존 집단 유지, 2) 기존 부장 전통의 약화 혹은 소멸, 3) 기존 약소 집단의 부상, 4) 신흥 집단 출현이다. 즉, 경기 남부지역의 부장 전통은 한성백제의 다원적인 통치 체제하에 Ⅰ기와 Ⅱ기 동안 각 지역의 전통을 이어간 것으로 생각된다. Ⅱ기에 들어서는 4세기 중엽을 기점으로는 제철기지 및 군사시설 조성 등을 목적으로 고분 사회 공동체 재편이 진행되었을 것이다.

영문 초록

This paper aims to examine the formation of community structures and changes in relationships within the burial society of the southern Gyeonggi province during the 3rd to 5th centuries. By analyzing the changes in the pottery burial traditions that reflect the identity of the tomb construction groups, the study estimates the process of reorganization in local community burial groups according to Baekje‘s regional governance strategy. For the analysis, the study distinguishes two phases based on the mid-4th century, when Baekje’s influence became stronger. The two phases are referred to as Phase 1 and Phase 2. The pottery burial combinations of each phase were analyzed using Social Network Analysis (SNA) to identify the community networks that shared burial traditions and to examine the changes in relationships. The results show that, in Phase 1, the pottery burial combinations of the southern Gyeonggi province correspond to the strategic locations along major transportation routes, especially in the west coast forces, where characteristic burial artifacts like the shallow bowl(wan), double-rimmed jar (ijungguyeonho), straight-mouthed jar (jikguho), and double-lug jar(yangibuho) are found, linking the inland areas of Chungcheong and Yeongnam. Meanwhile, in regions identified as being connected to Baekje's central authority, Baekje-style pottery such as Jikguho has been found as burial goods. In Phase 2, the spread of Hanseong-style pottery becomes prominent. Communities associated with Baekje’s central authority in the Hanseong period can be identified, and the transmission of stone-structured tombs is a key feature. In Phase 2, the newly formed areas such as Gunpo and Bucheon, created by Baekje’s central authority, show similarities in distribution with the Osan Suchung-dong and the Anseongcheon River regions, indicating a relationship between them. The reorganization of local society in Phase 2 can be summarized into four patterns: 1) the maintenance of existing powers, 2) the weakening or disappearance of existing burial traditions, 3) the rise of previously minor groups, and 4) the emergence of new groups. In other words, the burial traditions in the southern Gyeonggi province continued through Phase 1 and Phase 2 under Baekje’s pluralistic governance system. By the mid-4th century, a reorganization of the tomb society community likely took place, driven by the establishment of iron production bases and military facilities.
