국문 초록

이 연구는 가정과 교사가 다온센터(‘서울다문화교육지원센터’의 약칭) 파견교사로 1년간 근무하며 세계시민교육을 가르친 경험을 자문화기술지로 접근하였다. 연구문제는 ‘세계시민교육을 가르치고자 한 가정과 교사인 나는 서울다문화교육지원센터 파견교사로서 어떤 경험을 했으며, 그 경험의 의미는 무엇인가?’이다. 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 가정과 교사인 연구자는 다온센터 한빛마중교실의 담임을 맡아 학급을 운영하며 이주배경청소년과 그들 가족의 눈으로 나와 내 주변을 바라보면서 세계시민으로 성장하는 여정을 걸었다. 둘째, 다온센터에서 공동체교육을 담당한 가정과 교사로서, 연구자는 가정교과의 주요 내용 요소가 세계시민교육의 핵심인 공동체교육과 밀접하게 연결되어 있음을 확인하였다. 셋째, 일반학교에서 세계시민교육을 가르친 가정과 교사로서, 연구자는 가정과교육의 내용 요소와 교과적 특성이 세계시민교육의 내용과 실천에 적합함을 확인하였다. 이 연구에서 탐색한 나의 경험은 세계시민교육과 가정과교육을 유기적으로 결합시킨 과정이며, 실천 교과로서의 가정과교육을 통해 세계시민교육의 행동적⋅실천적 측면을 강화시키는 과정이었다.

영문 초록

This study utilizes an autoethnographic approach to examine my one-year experience as a dispatched teacher delivering global citizenship education at the Seoul Multicultural Education Support Center. The research question guiding this study is: ‘As a home economics teacher seeking to teach global citizenship education, what did I experience, and what is its significance?’ With a decade of experience in home economics education, I sought to expand my pedagogical competencies and critically reflect on my biases and fears about diversity by teaching at the Seoul Multicultural Education Support Center. My experiences in this setting can be categorized into three key aspects. First, as a homeroom teacher for middle school students, I engaged with multicultural learners, fostering empathy and a sense of justice, which enabled me to develop and practice my own global citizenship. Second, through community-based lessons, I cultivated an inclusive learning environment where students and I embraced differences and applied the values of coexistence in practical ways, strengthening my professional identity as a home economics educator. Third, while conducting global citizenship education in general schools, I examined social structures from the perspectives of students and parents at the Seoul Multicultural Education Support Center, addressing structural inequalities by providing tailored educational support and fostering critical awareness among students. This study highlights the role of home economics education in shaping global citizenship education by offering concrete pedagogical frameworks and applications. Furthermore, it broadens the scope of home economics education and contributes to both the professional and personal growth of educators.
