고등교육 국제협력 장에서의 탈개인화 경험에 관한 분석적 자문화기술지

국문 초록

본 연구는 연구자가 고등교육 국제협력 업무를 하면서 겪은 탈개인화 경험을 분석적 자문화기술지 연구방법을 활용해 이해하는 데 목적을 두었다. 연구자 ‘나’는 2012년부터 2018년까지 약 7년 동안 아세안과 한국·일본·중국, 유네스코 등과의 교육부 및 기관 차원에서 고등교육 협력 프로젝트를 개발하고 수행하였다. 그 과정 중에 실무자, 전문가(resource person), 정부 대표로 국제회의에 참여하면서 평소의 ‘나’의 모습이 아닌 상황적 규범에 따라 사회적 정체성을 적용하고 ‘나’의 태도, 감정, 사고를 전환해야 하는 탈개인화(deindividuation)하는 경험을 하였다. 연구자인 ‘나’의 태도, 감정, 사고 등의 전환과 변화는 다음과 같이 나타났다. 첫째, 국제회의 테이블에서 돌발 행위자를 미소로 포용하는 것이었고, 둘째, ‘나’를 지속적으로 격려하면서 애국자가 되도록 연습했다. 셋째, 제도적 기억을 쌓아가면서 의사결정자로서의 역할이 확대되었지만 Dr. A 보다는 내 이름, 개인으로 존중받기를 원했고, 넷째, 성찰을 동반한 체험을 동료들과 공유하면서 방전 상태에 놓인 나의 열정과 에너지를 재충전하였다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 고등교육 국제협력 담당자의 경력개발의 방법, 자문화기술지를 활용한 국제협력 분야 담당자들의 숨겨진 목소리(hidden voices)를 찾아내는 문화를 만드는데 새로운 관점을 제공할 수 있을 것이다. The purpose of this study was to understand the experience of deindividuation by using analytical autoethnography on the personal experiences of ‘I’ (researcher) while working in international cooperation in higher education. As a researcher, I developed and carried out a higher education cooperation project with the Ministry of Education, related institutions, UNESCO, etc., between Korea and ASEAN, among Korea, Japan, and China for about seven years from 2012 to 2018. In the process, I experienced deindividuation by applying social identity according to situational norms and shifting ‘my’ attitudes, emotions, and thoughts while participating in international meetings as a practitioner, a resource person, and a government representative. The study results were as follows: First, it was embracing the unexpected actor with a smile at the international conference table, and second, I practiced to become a patriot while continuously encouraging ‘I’. Third, the role as a decision maker expanded as institutional memory was built up, but I wanted to be respected as an individual rather than a Doctor A. Fourth, I reloaded my passion and energy, which was in a discharged state, by sharing the experience accompanied by reflection with my colleagues. The results of this study will be able to provide a new perspective on the career development of the person in charge of international cooperation in education and the culture of finding hidden voices in the field through autoethnography.
